Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin ( he, מכבי קריית מוצקין) is a professional basketball club based in Kiryat Motzkin in the Haifa District of Israel. The team plays in the Israeli National League. History Maccabi Kiryat Motzkin was founded in 1955. They have played in the Israeli Premier League from 1958 until 1966. In the 2018-19 season, They have reached the 2019 Israeli National League Playoffs as the second seed, but they eventually were eliminated by Hapoel Galil Elyon in the Semifinals. Liga Leumit ( he, ליגה לאומית, lit. ''National League'') is the second tier level league of basketball competition in Israel. It is the league level that is below the first tier Israeli Basketball Premier League, Israeli Premier League. League system The league contains 15 clubs that compete in a home-and-away Round-robin tournament, round-robin. At the end of the season, the top eight clubs advance to the play-offs. The first round is played on a best-of-three basis. The four winning clubs advance to two best-of-five playoffs, the winners of which are promoted to the Super League. Marcus Gaither
Marcus Gaither (April 26, 1961 – July 16, 2020) was an American-French professional basketball player, who played the guard position. In 1989–90 Gaither led the Israel Basketball Premier League in scoring. He then played in France for 11 years, and he ended his career playing for one season in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A. Personal life Gaither was born in Far Rockaway, Queens, and attended Far Rockaway High School. He was tall and weighed . In 2008, Gaither was living in West Caldwell, New Jersey, operating a mortgage company, and officiating at AAU basketball tournaments. He earned an MBA in Information Technology Management from Jones International University in 2010. In 2014, he joined the mortgage lending team at the corporate office of The Money Store in Florham Park, New Jersey. Gaither died in July 2020 at 59 years of age.
