Maccabi Hadera F.C.
Maccabi Hadera Football Club (Hebrew: מועדון כדורגל מכבי חדרה) was an Israeli football club based at Hadera. The club was merged in 2006 with the rest of Hadera football club to form Ironi Sport Hadera F.C. History The sports club was initially founded in 1914. During the British Mandate of Palestine the team played both friendly matches against local teams and army units' teams and matches in EIFA competitions. The team played in the 1929 Palestine Cup, falling in the first round to Maccabi Hasmonean Jerusalem in the first round. In 1937 the team reached the semi-final, a phase the team reached again only in 1986 when they became the first club to reach the semi-final of the Israel State Cup while playing in the third tier of Israeli football. The team joined the 1946–47 Liga Bet, and finished the season 9th in the league. 1975–76 Liga Alef
The 1975–76 Liga Alef season was the last in which Liga Alef was the second tier of Israeli football, as at the end of the season, Liga Artzit came into existence, and became the new second tier, Liga Alef became the third tier. Hapoel Acre (champions of the North Division) and Hapoel Yehud (champions of the South Division) promoted to Liga Leumit, both in the first time in their history. The eight clubs which placed between second to fifth in each of their respective regional divisions, with the addition of four clubs which have been relegated from Liga Leumit, formed the new Liga Artzit in the following season. The 1998–99 Liga Bet season saw Hapoel Hurfeish (champions of the North A division), Maccabi Hadera (champions of the North B division), Hapoel Kiryat Ono (champions of the South A division) and A.S. Ramat Eliyahu (champions of the South B division) win the title. The four clubs were placed in Liga Alef, which became the fourth tier upon the creation of the Israeli Premier League. At the bottom, Hapoel Karmiel, Beitar Tiberias, Hapoel Bu'eine (from North A division), Hapoel Ilut, Maccabi Umm al-Fahm (from North B division), Maccabi Qalansawe, Hapoel Tel Mond, Maccabi Holon (from South A division) and Beitar Beit Shemesh (from South B division) were all placed in Liga Gimel, which became the sixth tier. Maccabi Hadera (North Division champions) and Maccabi Sha'arayim (South Division champions) qualified for the promotion/relegation play-offs against the 9th- and 10th-placed clubs in Liga Alef. Liga Artzit ( he, ליגה ארצית, lit. ''Country League'') is the defunct third division of Israeli Football League, beneath its highest division Premier League and the second division Liga Leumit. Before being cancelled in 2009, it was run by the Israel Football Association. It was replaced by Liga Alef. Structure There were 12 teams in Liga Artzit. Each team played 33 matches; the first 22 matches were played on a home and away basis, with the last 11 fixtures based on league positions after 22 games. Like the majority of leagues in the world, three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. Final League positions were determined firstly by points obtained, then by goal difference, then goals scored, and if necessary, a mini-league of the results between two or more teams ranked using the previous three criteria and finally a series of one or more play off matches.
