MacSoft was an American video game developer and Video game publisher, publisher founded in 1993 by Peter Tamte as subsidiary of WizardWorks, specializing in the production of Porting, video game ports from Microsoft Windows to Macintosh operating systems, as well as productivity software. In 1996, WizardWorks was acquired by GT Interactive (later renamed Infogrames, Inc.), with WizardWorks and MacSoft split into different operationals. On January 30, 2003, MacSoft was acquired by Destineer, and founder Peter Tamte again became the company's director. A subsidiary, subsidiary company or daughter company is a company owned or controlled by another company, which is called the parent company or holding company. Two or more subsidiaries that either belong to the same parent company or having a same management being substantially controlled by same entity/group are called sister companies. ''Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares'' is a 4X turn-based strategy game set in space, designed by Steve Barcia and Ken Burd, and developed by Simtex, who developed its predecessor ''Master of Orion'' and ''Master of Magic''. The IBM PC compatible, PC version was published by MicroProse in 1996 in video gaming, 1996, and the Macintosh version a year later by MacSoft, in partnership with MicroProse. ''Lode Runner 2'' is a puzzle-platform game released in 1998 in video gaming, 1998 for Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. It is a sequel to ''Lode Runner'' and its remakes. Like the earlier ''Lode Runner's Rescue'', ''Lode Runner 2'' has isometric projection, isometric-perspective 2D graphics. It was developed by Presage Software and distributed by GT Interactive for Microsoft Windows and MacSoft for the Macintosh. Gameplay Players can play as a male or female Lode Runner, named Jake Peril and Jane according to the manual, but the player's default name is Digmo (which is changeable).
