''Maalik'' () is a 2016 Pakistani political-thriller film directed, written and produced by Ashir Azeem. It was released on 8 April 2016 in cinemas across Pakistan under the production banner of Media Hub. The film was banned in Pakistan for political reasons after being cleared by all three Censor Boards of the country with Universal (Unrestricted) rating, opposition parties in Pakistan welcomed the film for showing reality and the KPK govt allowed screening of 'Maalik' . Maalik is the only Pakistani film to be banned by the Federal Govt after being cleared by all Censor Boards. The film has a big cast with Ashir Azeem, Farhan Ally Agha, Sajid Hassan, Hassan Niazi, Adnan Shah, Rashid Farooqi, Ehteshamuddin and Tatmain ul Qulb in the lead roles. Ashir Azeem Gill () is a Pakistani Canadians, Pakistani-Canadian film and television director, actor, writer and former civil services officer who rose to fame through television series ''Dhuwan'' in 1994 and now hosts a political reform based web-series on his YouTube channel. Early life and career Ashir Azeem was born in Quetta in 1962 where he attended early schooling. He attended Pakistan Air Force College of Aeronautical Engineering from 1981 to 1984. Later, he received degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, BBA from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi in 1984–1986. Mohammed Ehteshamuddin ( ur, ) is a Pakistani TV director, producer, writer and actor. Ehtesham's short films '' Shahrukh Khan Ki Maut'' (2005) and ''Mein Sawa Paanch Bujay Aai Thi'' (2006) featured at the 2005 and 2006 Kara Film Festival. In addition, his two dramas and a film, ''Sadqay Tumhare'' (2014), ''Aseerzadi'' and ''Chambaili'' (2013) won Hum Award and ARY Film Award nominations.
