M Ashraful Haq
Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haq NBP, NUP, BCGM, ndc, afwc, psc is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy who is currently serving as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations). Prior to that, he served as Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard. Before that, he was the Commander of Khulna Naval Area. Early life and education Haq was born on 1 March 1965. After successfully completing SSC & HSC he joined Bangladesh Naval Academy on 15 October 1982 and got commissioned in Executive Branch on 15 April 1985. He is a graduate of Mirpur Staff college & National Defence College. He completed his post graduate from National Defense College, Delhi, India. Bangladesh Coast Guard
The Bangladesh Coast Guard ( bn, বাংলাদেশ কোস্ট গার্ড; BCG) is the maritime law enforcement force of Bangladesh. It is a paramilitary force which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its officers and sailors are transferred from Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from Bangladesh Army. The Bangladesh Coast Guard also performs the duty of maritime border security of Bangladesh. The headquarters is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Rear admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, equivalent to a major general and air vice marshal and above that of a commodore and captain, but below that of a vice admiral. A serjeant-at-arms, or sergeant-at-arms, is an officer appointed by a deliberative body, usually a legislature, to keep order during its meetings. The word "serjeant" is derived from the Latin ''serviens'', which means "servant". Historically, serjeants-at-arms were armed men retained by English lords and monarchs, and the ceremonial maces which they are associated with were originally a type of weapon. Dockyard and Engineering Works (DEW) Limited is a ship construction and repair yard at the Narayanganj, Bangladesh owned by the Government of Bangladesh under Ministry of Defence and managed by the Bangladesh Navy. The yard built many small to medium-sized patrol boats for the Bangladesh Coast Guard and landing craft for the Bangladesh Navy. History The shipyard was founded in 1922. Initially, it was a profit-making institution which continued after the independence of Bangladesh. But it experienced a period of loss starting from the nineties. As a result, it was laid off in 2002. On 7 December 2007, the yard was handed over to the Bangladesh Navy. From then, it is regaining its standard.
