''Muna'' is the third studio album by American indie pop band Muna, released on June 24, 2022. It is their first album as an independent artist, after they signed with Phoebe Bridgers' Saddest Factory Records imprint in 2021. It was promoted by the singles "Silk Chiffon", "Anything but Me", "Kind of Girl", and "Home by Now". The album was met with critical acclaim upon release. Background In 2020, Muna was dropped by RCA Records, with which they had released their first two albums, and in May 2021 signed with Saddest Factory Records, an imprint of Dead Oceans owned by American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. Throughout 2021 and 2022, Muna toured with Bridgers on her Reunion Tour and with Kacey Musgraves on her '' Star-Crossed: Unveiled'' tour. Muna (stylized as MUNA) ( ) is an American indie pop band consisting of Katie Gavin, Josette Maskin, and Naomi McPherson. They released two studio albums with RCA Records, ''About U'' (2017) and '' Saves the World'' (2019), before signing with independent label Saddest Factory Records, which released their third studio album, ''Muna'', in June 2022. Akere Tabeng Muna (born 18 August 1952) is a Cameroonian lawyer who is currently the Chairman of the International Anti-Corruption Conference Council. He is also the Sanctions Commissioner of the African Development Bank Group and a Member of the High-Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows from Africa. Salomon Tandeng Muna (27 March 1912 – January 22, 2002) was a Cameroonian politician of the Cameroonian National Union. He served as the first Prime Minister of the federated state of West Cameroon from January 11, 1968 to June 2, 1972. Additionally, he served as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Cameroon from 1970 to 1972. He was President of the National Assembly of Cameroon from 1973 to 1988. Muna People
The Muna or Wuna are an indigenous group that inhabits Muna Island, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. From the physical appearance of the body, skull, skin color (dark brown), and hair (curly or wavy) it appears that the aboriginal Muna people are closer to the ethnic groups of Polynesians and Melanesians in the Pacific and Aboriginal Australians compared to the Buginese or Malays. This is evident by the similarities of the people and their culture with of those in the East Nusa Tenggara, and the islands of Timor and Flores generally. Woven sarong motifs found in East Nusa Tenggara and Muna Island share similar features such as horizontal lines with basic colors of yellow, green, red, and black.
