MTV Israel, is the Hebrew-speaking branch of MTV. It launched on 17 January 2011. History * Prior to the launch of a 24-hour MTV Israel, the territory was previously served by a localized version of MTV Europe, which was introduced to the country in 1990. In the early 2000s, MTV began to localize the European MTV feed in Israel featuring localized advertising and sponsorship. * MTV Networks International signed a deal with Tel Aviv based telecommunications company Ananey Communications to launch MTV Baltic during the negotiations Ananey showed interest in launching a local MTV channel in Israel. * MTV Networks International launched an on-demand channel found at MTV.co.il. MTV (Originally an initialism of Music Television) is an American cable channel that launched on August 1, 1981. Based in New York City, it serves as the flagship property of the MTV Entertainment Group, part of Paramount Media Networks, a division of Paramount Global. The channel originally aired music videos and related programming as guided by television personalities known as video jockeys, or VJs. In the years since its inception, it significantly toned down its focus on music in favor of original reality programming for teenagers and young adults. ''Eye Candy'' is an American thriller television series that premiered on MTV on January 12, 2015. The series was developed by Christian Taylor, and is based on the 2004 novel of the same name by R. L. Stine. ''Eye Candy'' stars Victoria Justice as Lindy Sampson, a tech genius who goes on the hunt for a serial killer in New York while searching for her lost sister Sara. On February 11, 2014, ''Eye Candy'' was picked up for a 10-episode first season. Justice revealed on April 18, 2015, that the series had been cancelled. It was later revealed that due to a change in management MTV had decided to no longer produce or program live action shows.
