MTV Hits (Australian And New Zealand TV Channel)
''MTV Hits'' is an Australian and New Zealand subscription music channel focused on hit music. The channel first launched in Australia in April 2007 (as ''The Music Factory''), and later launched in New Zealand on 1 December 2011. The channel closed on 1 December 2015 to be replaced in all markets by MTV Music, but was revived 5 years later on 1 July 2020 as a rebrand of MTV Music. History MTV Hits Australia & Hits first launched as TMF Australia in April 2007 on the Optus Television pay TV service and allowed viewers to interact with the channel via the web and mobile ( 3G Network) commencing on 22 June 2007. Unlike sister channel MTV, the channel only played music related programming. The channel was said to be picked up by cable TV providers Foxtel and Austar as a standalone channel soon, but was available via the interactive My MTV Service. In 2022, MTV Hits began heavily broadcasting 00s-themed programming, encouraging more linearity between the decade-themed MTV Channels. From 8:00pm on 31 December 2022 until 5:00am on 2 January 2023, the channel will broadcast only 00s songs. European version In 2014, MTV Hits Europe began broadcasting. MTV Hits is a 24-hour pop music television channel from Paramount Networks EMEAA launched on 27 May 2014. The channel is widely available throughout Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. History *On 1 October 2017, MTV Hits, MTV Dance and MTV Rocks ceased broadcasting in Benelux. *A localized version of MTV Hits replaced MTV Brand New in Germany on 6 January 2021 and in the Netherlands on 1 February 2021. MTV Hits Latin America was a 24-hour non-stop contemporary hit music channel from ViacomCBS Networks Americas that debuted in 2008. The format of the network resembles that of the classic MTV Latin America before the addition of other programming to that network in the 2000s and their slow decline of music video programming. The network had a schedule consisted of only videos, interrupted by promotional advertising for MTV Latin America and limited commercials on the network. Like the other digital MTV/VH1 channels, MTV Hits Latin America used to be based on an automated wheel schedule introduced in the first years of MTV2 in the US. This practice, though, has now been reduced, with five themed zones - namely ''MTV Hits Playlistism'', ''Hitlist'', ''Biggest! Hottest! Loudest!'', ''MTV Classic'' and ''Weekend Playlist'' - being scheduled at predetermined timeslots.
