MTV Australia Awards 2008
The MTV Australia Awards 2008 is the new title for the Australian MTV Awards previously known as the MTV Australia Video Music Awards. The show was held at Australian Technology Park in Redfern, Sydney on 26 April 2008 and aired live on MTV Australia and Fox8 on the Foxtel, Austar and Optus platforms in Australia and 28 April on Sky Digital in New Zealand. History Voting commenced on 12 March 2008 and concluded on 25 April 2008. Unlike previous shows, it included, for the first time, Best Australian and Best New Zealand artist award as well as Music Video of the year, Television Moment, Live Performer, Good and Bad Karma awards, the Re-Make award which allowed viewer's to re-film a moment in television in their own style. MTV New Zealand hosted the second Mile High Gig which flew Kiwi fans via Air New Zealand to the award's show with special guests performing on board including Dizzee Rascal and Scribe. South Eveleigh
South Eveleigh, previously known as Australian Technology Park is a retail, business centre and technology park south of the Sydney central business district and north of Sydney Airport. South Eveleigh borders Alexandria, New South Wales, Alexandria and Eveleigh. Eveleigh Railway Workshops emerged on the site in the 19th century and it was transformed into Australian Technology Park in 1995. South Eveleigh primarily houses start-up hi-tech companies, especially biotech firms, and spin-offs from university research. The Park also houses venture capital companies, banks and legal firms. The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit for the American and international film industry. The awards are regarded by many as the most prestigious, significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide. Ian Thorpe
Ian James Thorpe, (born 13 October 1982) is an Australian retired swimmer who specialised in freestyle, but also competed in backstroke and the individual medley. He has won five Olympic gold medals, the most won by any Australian along with fellow swimmer Emma McKeon. Mick Fanning
Michael Eugene Fanning (born 13 June 1981) is an Australian professional surfer who was crowned champion of the Association of Surfing Professionals/World Surf League (ASP/WSL)'s World Tour in 2007, 2009 and 2013. The Veronicas is an Australian pop duo from Brisbane. The group was formed in 2004 by identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso. G Unit
G-Unit (short for Guerilla Unit) was an American hip hop group formed by longtime friends and East Coast rappers 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, and Lloyd Banks. After amassing a string of self-released mixtapes in the early 2000s, the group released their debut album '' Beg for Mercy'' in 2003, which went on to ship over four million copies in the US and was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). During Tony Yayo's imprisonment in 2003, the group recruited Tennessee-based rapper Young Buck as a temporary replacement and later an official member.
