MTV Asia Awards
The MTV Asia Awards was the Asian equivalent of the European MTV EMA. Held from 2002 to 2008, the show gave recognition and awards to Asian and international artists in achievement, cinema, fashion, humanitarian, and music. Just like the EMAs, most of the awards were voted by viewers from the Asian region. The trophy design was a gold toblerone Toblerone ( , ) is a Swiss chocolate brand produced in Bern. Toblerone is known for its distinctive shape, a series of joined triangular prisms and lettering engraved in the chocolate. Since 2012, the brand has been owned by US company Mondele ...-like bar. The twin prism shape represents the letter M and double A, the acronyms for MTV Asia Awards. The show was absent in 2007 and was discontinued after 2008. MTV Asia Awards 2008
The MTV Asia Awards 2008 returned on August 2, 2008 after a one-year hiatus. The event was held at the 6,000-seat Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands, Malaysia. This was the first time the award show was held in Malaysia. This was the sixth and final MTV Asia Awards. Nominees were announced on June 14, 2008 via the channel. At the same day the MTV Asia Awards official website was also reopened. Voting commences from June 14 until July 25, 2008. Unlike previous award shows, international categories were not chosen by viewers (except for the Favorite International Artist in Asia award) and included for the first time Best Hook Up, Bring Da House Down, and the Innovation Award. Saksit Vejsupaporn ( th, ศักดิ์สิทธิ์ เวชสุภาพร, , ), popularly known by the nickname Tor (stylized ToR+; , , ), is a Thai pop singer and pianist. Biography Saksit was born on 20 January 1984. His father, , was lead and guitarist for the Thai band Grand Ex', which was active during the 1970s and 1980s. Saksit began playing the piano at the age of three, and played for church from the age of nine. (He is a Protestant.) His early accomplishments include winning the Trinity College Awards Thailand in 1999. He attended primary school at Bangkok Adventist Church School and secondary school at Ekamai International School, and graduated BBA with honours from Assumption University. D2B (Thai: ดีทูบี) was a Thai boy band from the Thai record label, RS promotion. The number one boy band of all time in Thailand, being the top boy band in Asia Received the MTV Asia Awards 2003. Members The three members of the group were: Apichet Kittikorncharoen, nickname Big (born 2 December 1982 – died 9 December 2007), Worrawech Danuwong, nickname Dan, (born 16 May 1984), and Kawee Tanjararak, nickname Beam, (born 18 May 1980). History The name "D2B" was created from the first letters of the members' nicknames, Dan, Big, and Beam, in which one name started with a "D" and 2 names started with a "B".
