This is a list of Members of Parliament (MPs) elected to the Parliament of Ghana for the First Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana at the 1992 parliamentary election, held on December 29, 1992. The preceding presidential election was considered to have been conducted in a free and fair manner by international observers. The opposition parties however claimed the election was fraudulent and boycotted this parliamentary election. The list is arranged by region and constituency. New MPs elected since the general election and changes in party allegiance are noted at the bottom of the page. Composition The NPP, PNC, PHP and NIP all boycotted the parliamentary election and thus had no seats in parliament. A member of parliament (MP) is the representative in parliament of the people who live in their electoral district. In many countries with bicameral parliaments, this term refers only to members of the lower house since upper house members often have a different title. The terms congressman/congresswoman or deputy are equivalent terms used in other jurisdictions. Pius M. G. Griffiths was a member of the parliament of Ghana. Griffiths held the title of Deputy Minister of Communications in the Rawlings government with responsibility for information technology. In 2000 he was Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. He was also MP for Afigya Sekyere East constituency from January 1993 to January 1997. Early life and education Griffiths was born on 20 December 1945 in Kumasi. He attended Opoku Ware School and later obtained his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Poona. John Kofi Gyasi is a Ghanaian Politician and was a member of the first and second Parliament of the Fourth Republic representing the Adansi-Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Early life and education Kofi Gyasi was born on 22 April 1946 in Brofoyedru in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He attended Dunkwa Secondary School and Akrokerri Teacher Training College where he obtain his POST-SEC Cert A. Politics He was first elected into the 1st parliament of the 4th republic of Ghana on 7 January 1993 after emerging winner at the 1992 Ghanaian Parliamentary Elections. He was then elected to parliament on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress during the 1996 Ghanaian General Election as a member of parliament representing the Adansi Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region.
