The United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) was a United Nations peacekeeping mission established by the United Nations Security Council on September 25, 2007 to provide a multidimensional presence of up to 350 police and military personnel to eastern Chad and north-eastern Central African Republic The mission comes as a response to the dire situation of an estimated 230,000 refugees from Darfur who continue to flee into bordering eastern Chad and north-eastern Central African Republic (CAR). Armed Sudanese rebel groups have continuously carried out attacks across the Sudanese border, endangering local residents and Darfurian refugees alike. United Nations Security Council Resolution 1913
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1913, adopted unanimously on March 12, 2010, after recalling resolutions 1769 (2007), 1778 (2007), 1834 (2008) and 1861 (2009), the Council noted that the situation in the region of Darfur, Sudan and Chad and the Central African Republic constituted a threat to international peace and security, and therefore extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) for a further two months, until May 15, 2010. Central African Republic–Sudan Relations
From the perspective of the government of the Central African Republic (CAR), the major long-term problem in relations with Sudan was penetration of its wide open eastern frontier by cattle raiders and poachers. This border had a certain “Wild West” quality to it as of the early 2000s; neither government had firm control over territory in its their jurisdiction. Some of Sudan's border with the Central African Republic is contiguous to territory that was under the control of South Sudan in 2010. Patrick A. Nash (March 2, 1863 – October 6, 1943) was a political boss in the early and mid-twentieth century in Chicago, which is in Cook County, Illinois, United States. He was in large part responsible for consolidating elements of the Cook County Democratic Party into a political machine. He evolved from a local sewage contractor to a political boss by carefully selecting his political allies. His prominence stems from the death of Anton Cermak and his political career is intertwined with that of Edward Joseph Kelly. The success of this machine was attributed to its decision to be more inclusive than its predecessors. This meant that Nash had success at dealing with a variety of politicians such as William L.
