MBK Center, also known as Mahboonkrong ( th, มาบุญครอง; , ), is a large shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. At eight storeys, the center contains around 2,000 shops, restaurants and service outlets. In 2009, MBK Center management reported daily visitor numbers of more than 100,000, half of whom were young Thai people and a third foreign visitors. History MBK was the largest shopping mall in Asia when it opened in 1985. It is on land leased from the adjacent Chulalongkorn University. This lease was renewed in 2002. MBK was named after the parents of the developer Sirichai Bulakul, Mah and Boonkrong, whose statues are found on the ground floor. Pathum Wan ( th, ปทุมวัน, ) is one of the fifty districts (''khet'') of Bangkok, Thailand. It lies just beyond the old city boundary of Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem, and was a rural area on the eastern outskirts of the city when royal villas were built there in the late nineteenth century. The district was officially established in 1915, and covers an area of . A large part of the district area is taken up by the campus of Chulalongkorn University and the green expanses of Lumphini Park and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club. MBK Fight Night ( th, เอ็มบีเค ไฟท์ไนท์) is a Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Mixed martial arts promotions managed by MBK Center in Bangkok. History The ''MBK Fight Night'' started outside the MBK Center shopping mall in 2010. Since 2012, WMO ( World Muay Thai Organization) has been responsible for hosting the events and launching a live broadcast on Facebook. In 2020, mixed martial arts campaigns were added to the ''MBK Fight Night'' programs. This event, which is held in collaboration with P'N Fighter Club, held on Fridays at 18:00. Khlong Saen Saep
Khlong Saen Saep (, ) is a canal ''( khlong)'' in central Thailand, connecting the Chao Phraya River to Prachinburi Province and Chachoengsao. A portion of the canal is used for public transport by an express boat service in Bangkok. The 72 km long canal passes through 21 districts and is connected to more than 100 smaller canals. History The Saen Saep Canal was built on the order of King Rama III during a conflict between Siam and Annam over Cambodia in order to establish water transport for soldiers and weapons. Construction began in 1837 and cost 96,000 Baht. Construction was finished in three years. Klong Saen Saep was once filled with lotus plants. BTS Skytrain
The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS Skytrain ( th, รถไฟฟ้าบีทีเอส '' TS'), is an elevated rapid transit system in Bangkok, Thailand.
