The M35 road is a metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects Pretoria North with a rural area north of Soshanguve. Route The M35 route begins at a junction with the R566 Route just north of the Pretoria North suburb. It begins by heading north-north-west for 14 kilometres, flying over the N4 Highway (Platinum Highway) and bypassing the Onderstepoort Private Nature Reserve to the east, to reach a junction with the M39 route. The M39 joins the M35 and they are one road northwards for 2 kilometres before the M39 becomes its own road westwards towards Soshanguve Central. The M35 continues northwards for 9 kilometres, through the eastern parts of Soshanguve, to reach a junction with the M21 route. Pretoria North
Pretoria North ( af, Pretoria-Noord) is a suburb of the city of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, with a population of 16,972 people according to the 2011 census. Pretoria North was first settled in 1878 by a pioneer column of Afrikaner farmers who started farming alongside the passing Apies River. The Area became a stopping point for travelers moving through the North of Pretoria to the Northern Transvaal. In 1904 an English medium primary School was established in Pretoria. This school was the antecedent to the current Laerskool Danie Malan on the corners of Rachel De Beer and Jan van Riebeeck streets in Pretoria North. Tswaing Crater
Tswaing is an impact crater in South Africa that is accompanied by a museum. It is situated 40 km to the north-west of Pretoria. This astrobleme is 1.13 km in diameter and 100 m deep and the age is estimated to be 220,000 ± 52,000 years (Pleistocene). The impactor is believed to have been a chondrite or stony meteorite some 30 to 50 m in diameter that was vapourised during the impact event. Morokweng impact structure, another crater of chondrite origin, lies north-west of Vryburg. Etymology The name ''Tswaing'' means "place of salt" in Tswana and the crater was also formerly known in English as ''Pretoria Saltpan crater'' and in Afrikaans as ''Soutpankrater''. The M21 road is a long metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects Ga-Rankuwa with Hammanskraal via Mabopane and Soshanguve. Route The M21 route begins at a junction with the R513 Route (Brits Road) near De Wildt, North West. It heads northwards to cross the N4 Highway (Platinum Highway; westbound only) just east of the N4's Brits Toll Plaza. It continues north to meet the R566 Route and enter the township of Ga-Rankuwa as Kware Street. The M39 road is a metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects a rural area north of Pretoria (Pyramid) with a rural area north-west of Pretoria (Lebalangwe) via Soshanguve and Mabopane. Route The M39 route begins at a junction with the R101 Route (Old Warmbaths Road) about 2 kilometres north of Pyramid. It heads westwards for 12.5 kilometres to reach a t-junction with the M35 route. The M39 joins the M35 and they are one road northwards for 2 kilometres before the M39 becomes its own road westwards to enter the town of Soshanguve. Platinum Highway
The Platinum Highway is part of the N4, and a major South African highway built under concessions with a private contractor. In 2001, the project was voted Infrastructure Deal of the Year by Project Finance International Magazine. It took eight years to complete. The highway is part of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which links four African countries (Mozambique, South Africa, Botswana and Namibia) and two oceans (the Indian and Atlantic). The contract had tougher concession terms than were seen in previous contracts. The ''Platinum Highway'' is the section of the N4 from the Skilpadshek Border with Botswana, through Zeerust, Swartruggens, Rustenburg and Brits, to the interchange with the N1 in Pretoria (Tshwane). The N4 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Skilpadshek on the Botswana border, past Rustenburg, Pretoria, eMalahleni and Mbombela, to Komatipoort on the Mozambique border. It forms the South African section of the Trans-Kalahari Corridor, which runs from Walvis Bay to Maputo, meaning that it links the east and west coasts of Southern Africa. Since the completion of the A2 through Botswana, the entire Corridor is now a world-class standard highway; it features at least one carriageway in each direction of high-speed traffic plus a paved shoulder for its entire length.
