Mônica Pinto da Silva Driscoll, known professionally as Mônica da Silva, is a Brazilian American singer-songwriter and musician, performing both as a solo artist and as a member of the indie duo Complicated Animals. Da Silva's sound can be classified as International Fusion, as it is influenced by Brazilian music, namely Bossa Nova, but also incorporates elements of Lounge music, Lounge, Electronica, Indie Pop, Música popular brasileira, MPB, and Worldbeat. Complicated Animals is an indie pop, indie band consisting of Brazilian American vocalist and songwriter Mônica da Silva, and musician and producer Chad Alger. The duo perform in their signature, self-coined "indie nova" genre, which mixes indie pop with Brazilian bossa nova. ''Morning Becomes Eclectic'' (MBE) is a three-hour adult album alternative radio program first aired in 1977 and broadcast live every weekday from KCRW in Santa Monica, California. The show's name is a play on the Eugene O'Neill trilogy of plays, ''Mourning Becomes Electra''. The program was created by Isabel Holt. History Dan Storper founded Putumayo in 1975 as a retail store in New York City featuring handicrafts from around the world. Storper took the name of his company, Putumayo, from Colombia's Putumayo River Valley where he travelled in 1974. Freedom Fry is a Los Angeles, California based indie band, composed of Parisian-born Marie Seyrat and American Bruce Driscoll. Career 2011-2014 The duo first met in April 2011 when Seyrat was the stylist on a video for Driscoll's other band Blondfire. Impressed by Seyrat's whispery voice, Driscoll asked her if she would be interested in writing some songs together. In August 2011 they recorded and released the Let The Games Begin EP.
