Mário Da Rosa
Mário da Rosa (1917 – deceased), is a former Portuguese footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was most known for his thirteen-year spell at Benfica, where he won three league titles. Career Born in Vila Real de Santo António, Rosa joined Benfica in 1937, making his debut on 8 May 1938 in a match against Académica. It was his only appearance all season, as Amaro was undisputed starter. Nonetheless, it was enough for him to be a part of the league title. The following season, new signing Martins surpassed him and Amaro to take the goalkeeper position, holding it tightly for six seasons, with Rosa relegated to about handful of appearances. In 1944–45, he finally overtook Martins and played 21 games, 13 in the league, to help Benfica win the league. However, he could not retain his place in the next season, with Martins appearing again to be the first choice. Vila Real De Santo António
Vila Real de Santo António (, often run together as ) is a city, civil parish, and municipality in the Algarve, Portugal. The population in 2011 was 19,156, in an area of 61.25 km2. It is one of the few municipalities in Portugal without territorial continuity: its territory comprises two parts, with the municipal seat located in the eastern part. Vila Real de Santo António was founded after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake, and largely expanded in 1774 using the same architectural and construction techniques employed in the reconstruction of Lisbon after the disaster. The city is situated next to the Guadiana river. The Primeira Liga (; English: Premier League, also written as Liga Portugal 1), also known as Liga Portugal Bwin for sponsorship reasons, is the top level of the Portuguese football league system. Pinto Machado
Henrique Pinto Machado (12 February 1926 – 21 January 2009) was a former Portuguese footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was most known for his short three-year spell at Benfica, where he won the Portuguese Cup. Career Born in Alfarelos, Pinto Machado joined Benfica in 1946, making his debut on 24 November in a match against Porto. He battled with Martins for the goalkeeper position, playing the majority of his 14 appearances in the Campeonato de Lisboa. In his second season, the newly arrived Rogério Contreiras quickly overtook him in the pecking order, and Machado only played 11 games. In his last year at Benfica, he split the league appearances evenly with Contreiras, with each making 13. Nonetheless, his single game in the Taça de Portugal on 8 May 1949, against Marítimo, was enough for him to gain honours for winning the cup.
