Márcio Souza (writer)
Márcio Gonçalves Bentes de Souza (born March 4, 1946) is a Brazilian journalist and writer, recognized for his focus on the Amazon basin. Biography Márcio was born in Manaus, Amazonas. As a young man, in Manaus, he began working as a film critic in the newspaper O Trabalhista, of which his father is a partner. In 1965, he took over the coordination of the editions of the government of the Amazonas (Brazilian state), State of Amazonas, but soon afterwards he moved to São Paulo and entered the social sciences course at the University of São Paulo (USP). Pursued by the military dictatorship, he interrupted his studies in 1969 and began his professional life in cinema, as a critic, scriptwriter and director. In the dramaturgy, he wrote pieces like "As folias do látex" and "Tem piranha no pirarucu". With the work "Galvez – Imperador do Acre", he began his literary career in 1976. Manaus
Manaus () is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Amazonas. It is the seventh-largest city in Brazil, with an estimated 2020 population of 2,219,580 distributed over a land area of about . Located at the east center of the state, the city is the center of the Manaus metropolitan area and the largest metropolitan area in the North Region of Brazil by urban landmass. It is situated near the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers. It is the only city in the Amazon Rainforest with a population over 1 million people. The city was founded in 1669 as the Fort of São José do Rio Negro. It was elevated to a town in 1832 with the name of "Manaus", an altered spelling of the indigenous Manaós peoples, and legally transformed into a city on October 24, 1848, with the name of ''Cidade da Barra do Rio Negro'', Portuguese for "The City of the Margins of the Black River". Revolta
The reVolta is an annual professional women's road bicycle racing event in Catalonia, Spain. First held in 2018, it was initially organised on the same day as the last stage of the Volta a Catalunya. However, as there is another -more important- race scheduled on the same date, it has since been organised independently. American cyclist Lauren Stephens won the first edition. History reVolta's first edition was held March 25, 2018, the same date that the men's Volta a Catalunya's last stage was scheduled. 118 cyclists started the race, which would last 45 minutes plus an extra lap at a 3.85km circuit around the Montjuïc mountain, in Barcelona. Doing so, the event would take advantage of the infrastructure and TV coverage from the men's event. Lauren Stephens ( Cylance ProCycling) became the first winner, followed by local riders Lorena Llamas ( Movistar Team) and Sofia Rodríguez (Sopela Women Team).
