Myriad Road
''Myriad Road'' is a 2015 jazz album by Natacha Atlas. The album was composed and produced by Ibrahim Maalouf, with additional songs written by Natacha Atlas and Digitonal, Samy Bishai. The album, which is Atlas' first jazz record, features songs in both English and Arabic. The album was first conceived in 2011 when Atlas and Maalouf met at a concert in Istanbul. Maalouf wanted to create a work that would avoid the characteristics of her earlier electropop albums which emphasized traditional costumes and belly dancing. Natacha Atlas
Natacha Atlas ( ar, نتاشا أطلس}; born 20 March 1964) is an Egyptian-Belgian singer known for her fusion of Arabic and Western music, particularly hip-hop. She once termed her music "'' cha'abi moderne''" (modern popular music). Her music has been influenced by many styles including Maghrebain, hip hop, drum and bass and reggae. Atlas began her career as part of the world fusion group Transglobal Underground. In 1995, she began to focus on her solo career with the release of ''Diaspora''. She has since released seven solo albums and been a part of numerous collaborations. Her version of "Mon amie la rose" became a surprise success in France, reaching 16 on the French Singles Charts in 1999. Her most recent creation '' Myriad Road'' was released on 23 October 2015. Decca Label Group
Decca Gold is a United States-based record label focusing on classical repertoire. It falls under the umbrella of Verve Label Group, owned by Universal Music Group. The label has a new roster of classical artists and partnerships, and was inspired by the historic Decca Gold Label Series established in 1956 that featured artists such as Andrés Segovia, Leonard Bernstein, Claudio Arrau and Dave Brubeck. The label's first album, Emerson String Quartet's ''Chaconnes and Fantasias: Music of Britten and Purcell'', was released on April 21, 2017. Ibrahim Maalouf
Ibrahim Maalouf ( ar, ابراهيم معلوف, ; born 5 November 1980 in Beirut) is a French-Lebanese trumpeter, producer, arranger, and composer. In 2022, he became the first Lebanese instrumentalist nominated at the Grammy Awards for his album ''Queen of Sheba'' in collaboration with Angélique Kidjo. Biography His father is trumpeter Nassim Maalouf and his mother is pianist Nada Maalouf. His uncle is the writer Amin Maalouf and his grandfather was the journalist, poet, and musicologist Rushdi Maalouf. After leaving his home country as a child during the Lebanese Civil War, he grew up in Paris with his sister Layla. Digitonal is a British electronica duo composed of clarinettist and composer Andy Dobson and violinist Samy Bishai, who formed the band in London in the late 1990s. Reviewing their 2010 retrospective album ''Be Still My Bleeping Heart'', BBC's Mike Diver agrees with the band's description of their own style as "neo classical ambient electronica", adding that, although at times predictable, their music is "extremely accessible, and incredibly pretty", "designed primarily to calm, despite occasionally boisterous beat-work."
