Mylabris Flexuosa
''Mylabris flexuosa'' is a species of blister beetle, belonging to the Meloidae family. Distribution and habitat This species is present in Southern Europe ( Andorra, France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland ). Swiss law does not designate a ''capital'' as such, but the federal parliament and government are installed in Bern, while other federal institutions, such as the federal courts, are in other cities (Bellinzona, Lausanne, Luzern, Neuchâtel ...), in Russia and in Central Asia. It mainly inhabits prairies. Description ''Mylabris flexuosa'' can reach a length of . Head, antennae, pronotum and legs are black, while elytra show yellow and black bands and markings. Many are conspicuous and some are aposematically colored, announcing their toxicity to would-be predators. Description Blister beetles are hypermetamorphic, going through several larval stages, the first of which is typically a mobile triungulin. The larvae are insectivorous, mainly attacking bees, though a few feed on grasshopper eggs. While sometimes considered parasitoids, in general, the meloid larva apparently consumes the immature host along with its provisions, and can often survive on the provisions alone; thus it is not an obligatory parasitoid, but rather a facultative parasitoid, or simply a kleptoparasite.
