My Woman (1932 Song)
"My Woman" is a song with lyrics by Bing Crosby and music by Max Wartell and Irving Wallman, recorded by Crosby on 23 February 1932, in New York City for Brunswick Records. He was backed by the Brunswick Studio Orchestra directed by Victor Young, with Tommy Dorsey on trombone and Larry Gomar on drums. The song was first published on 11 March 1932. The recording by Lew Stone & his Monseigneur Band (named for their residency at London's Monseigneur restaurant), with vocal refrain by Al Bowlly, has since become well-known through its use in samples on latter-day pop recordings. Lew Stone recording Stone and his band recorded the song in Chelsea, London, on 29 November 1932, as the last of three songs at a Decca session. It was arranged by Stone, with a trumpet solo by Nat Gonella. Louis Stone known professionally as Lew Stone (28 June 1898 – 13 February 1969) was a British bandleader and arranger of the British dance band era, and was well known in Britain during the 1930s. He was known as a skillful, innovative and imaginative musical arranger. Early life and career Stone was born Louis Steinberg in Bethnal Green, son of Hyman Steinberg, a cabinetmaker, and wife Kate. Stone showed promise in both music and football, playing for the Corinthian F.C. and Casuals F.C. teams in the daytime and playing as a pianist in the evening. In the 1920s, he worked with many important dance bands. Some arrangements attributed to Stone can be heard on particular records by the Savoy Orpheans (1927) and Ray Starita and his Ambassador's Band (1928). Bill Harty
William John Harty (14 January 1899 Waterford, Ireland – 29 May 1959 Los Angeles, California) was an Irish born dance band drummer. Career Born in Waterford in Ireland in 1899, Harty moved to Birmingham in England after World War I and took up the drums while working for the Dunlop Tyre Company. He played with various local bands on the early Birmingham jazz scene before deputising with an American band at the Birmingham Palais. He toured around Europe for much of the 1920s before returning to England to play with bands led by Harry Shalson, Al Starita, Jean Pougnet, Bill Gerhardi, Percival Mackey, Arthur Lally and Lew Stone. Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. MBE (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley (formerly Wiley Kat), is a British grime MC, rapper, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Bow, London. Shahid Khan ( ur, شاهد خان; born 1 January 1981), better known by his stage name Naughty Boy, is a British DJ, record producer, songwriter and musician. In 2012, Khan signed a three–year publishing deal with Sony ATV, as well as a recording contract to release one album under Virgin EMI Records. Khan launched himself as a record producer under the moniker "Naughty Boy" and runs his own production company called Naughty Boy Recordings. Jyoti Prakash Mishra (born 30 July 1966), better known by his stage name White Town, is a British-Indian singer and musician. He is best known for his 1997 hit song "Your Woman". Early life Jyoti Prakash Mishra was born in Rourkela on 30 July 1966, and emigrated to England with his family at the age of three. He grew up in Derby.
