My Life For Ireland
''My Life for Ireland'' (german: Mein Leben für Irland) is a Nazi propaganda movie from 1941 directed by Max W. Kimmich, telling a story of an Irish nationalist family and their involvement in the Irish struggle of independence over two generations. The movie was produced for Nazi-occupied Europe with the intent of challenging pro-British allegiances; yet in some cases it had the unintended effect of making audiences identify the Irish struggle with their own resistance against the Nazis. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Wilhelm Depenau and Otto Erdmann. Plot The film covers the story of two generations of an Irish nationalist family; starting with Michael O'Brien (Werner Hinz) and following with his son, also Michael (Will Quadflieg), eighteen years later in 1921. Irish nationalism is a nationalist political movement which, in its broadest sense, asserts that the people of Ireland should govern Ireland as a sovereign state. Wilhelm Borchert (actor)
Ernst Wilhelm Borchert, or just Wilhelm Borchert, (13 March 1907 in Rixdorf – 1 June 1990 in Berlin) was a German actor. He was also a voice actor for audio books and films. Theater After graduating, Borchert pursued a degree in acting at the Reicherschen Hochschule für dramatische Kunst (Reicherschen School for dramatic arts) from 1926-27. For his talent in acting, Borchert became a Staatsschauspieler (Actor of the state) and a Honorary member of the State Theater of Berlin in 1973. Karl John (24 March 1905 – 22 December 1977) was a German film actor who appeared in more than 50 films between 1933 and 1977. Early life John was born in Cologne, Germany. He studied architecture at the Technische Hochschule in Danzig. But he soon discovered his love for the stage and moved to Berlin where he took acting lessons. Career At 26 he made his debut performance at a theater in Boleslawiec. John made his first film appearance in the 1932 thriller ''The White Demon'' which also starred Hans Albers in the lead role. Eugen Gottlob Klöpfer (10 March 1886 in Talheim, Heilbronn – 3 March 1950 in Wiesbaden) was a German actor. Early life Born to Karl Klöpfer and his wife Karoline, née Hörsch, Eugen attended the Realschule ("secondary school") in Heilbronn. He subsequently attended the Lateinschule (Latin School) in Lauffen and then the Karlsgymnasium in Heilbronn. St Edward's College, England is a co-educational Catholic school with academy status in the UK located in the Liverpool suburb of West Derby. Founded in 1853 as the Catholic Institute, the college was formerly a boys grammar school run by the Congregation of Christian Brothers, known widely as the Irish Christian Brothers.
