''My Husband and I'' is a British sitcom starring Mollie Sugden and William Moore that aired on ITV from 9 January 1987 to 20 May 1988. It was written and created by Pam Valentine and Michael Ashton. Background Following the end of '' That's My Boy'', the writers Pam Valentine and Michael Ashton wrote a new sitcom for Mollie Sugden titled ''My Husband and I'', which co-starred William Moore, Sugden's real-life husband. Situation Comedy
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Isabelle Harriet Lucas (3 December 1927 – 24 February 1997) was a Canadian-born British actress and singer. Life and career Isabelle Lucas was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to a chef from Barbados who worked on the Canadian Pacific Railway. Lucas acted in amateur productions as a teenager in Toronto. She moved to London in 1954 after performing in amateur productions in Toronto. She made her first West End appearance in the show ''The Jazz Train'' in 1955. She also performed in ''Walk a Crooked Mile'' (1959) and '' Funny Girl''. She appeared in film and television roles during the 1950s and 1960s, including ''Miracle in Soho'' (1957). Roberta Tovey (born 9 August 1953) is an English actress who has appeared in films and television programmes. One of her better-known roles was that of Susan, the granddaughter of Dr. Who, in the films ''Dr. Who and the Daleks'' (1965) and ''Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D.'' (1966), which starred Peter Cushing as Dr. Who. John Horsley (actor)
John Lovell Horsley (21 July 1920 – 12 January 2014) was a British actor. He was born in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, England. The son of a doctor, he made his acting debut at the Theatre Royal in Bournemouth. After appearing in repertory theatres he was called up for military service in the Royal Devon Yeomanry, in which he served in Sicily and Italy during the Second World War. He then contracted hepatitis and become a member of an Army drama company that toured military units. Horsley's early career as a professional career saw him playing a succession of doctors and policemen, including a doctor in the film '' Hell Drivers'' (1957) and a policeman in the television show '' Big Breadwinner Hog'' (1969). He was more prolific in television from the 1960s, and played character roles in many series and programmes including '' The Lotus Eaters'' (1972–73) and ''The Duchess of Duke Street'' (1976–77). Carol Hawkins (born 31 January 1949 in Chipping Barnet, Barnet, Hertfordshire) is an England, English actress, best known for her various comic roles in numerous TV sitcoms and films in the 1970s and 1980s. She played the roles of Sharon Eversleigh in the film of the television series ''Please Sir!'' and Sandra in the BBC TV series ''Porridge (1974 TV series), Porridge'', and starred in two ''Carry On'' films (''Carry On Abroad'' as Marge and ''Carry On Behind'' as Sandra).
