''My Father's Son'' (; literally "Elegant Transformation") is a 1988 Hong Kong modern comedy television drama created and produced by TVB, starring Ha Yu, Lau Dan, Angelina Lo, Stephen Chow, Sandra Ng, Dickson Lee, Bonnie Law and Cutie Mui as the main cast, produced by Catherina Tsang. First original broadcast began on Hong Kong's TVB Jade channel July 4 till July 29, 1988 every Monday through Friday during its 7:10 to 8:10pm timeslot with a total of 30 episodes . The drama is Stephen Chow and Sandra Ng's first of many later collaborations. Synopsis Tang Yan Wai (Ha Yu) is a poultry shop owner and seller. He's a widow with two grown sons. TVB Jade (), or simply Jade, is a Hong Kong Cantonese-language free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) as its flagship service, alongside its sister network, the English-language TVB Pearl. Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong SAR. The Company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service. TVB is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate. TVB commenced broadcasting on November 19, 1967. The Company was incorporated on July 26, 1965 and was co-founded by Sir Run Run Shaw, who was Chairman from 1980 to 2011, together with Sir Douglas Clague and Harold Lee Hsiao-wo of the Lee Hysan family. The multiple-camera setup, multiple-camera mode of production, multi-camera or simply multicam is a method of filmmaking and video production. Several cameras—either film or professional video cameras—are employed on the set and simultaneously record or broadcast a scene. It is often contrasted with a single-camera setup, which uses one camera. Description Generally, the two outer cameras shoot close-up shots or "crosses" of the two most active characters on the set at any given time, while the central camera or cameras shoot a wider master shot to capture the overall action and establish the geography of the room. In this way, multiple shots are obtained in a single take without having to start and stop the action. Ha Yu (actor)
Wong Sing (born 14 June 1943), better known by his stage name Ha Yu, is a Hong Kong actor who has been working on the television network TVB since the 1970s. Biography Wong was born in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, in 1946. He went to Hong Kong in 1962 and worked as a part-time actor during his studies there. Later, he joined the television station Rediffusion (now ATV) as an actor and adopted the stage name "Ha Yu". He switched to another station, TVB, in 1974 and acted in a number of television series produced by TVB, especially in adaptations of wuxia novels by Gu Long. In early 1987, Wong co-hosted the variety show ''An Evening With the Stars'' (群斗星會) aired on the Taiwanese television network TTV. He immigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1994. During that period, he returned to Hong Kong in 1997 to film for ATV, and in 2000, Wong returned to TVB and acted in some television series again. Alan Tam
Alan Tam Wing-lun MH (; born 23 August 1950) is a Hong Kong singer and actor. He played a major role in developing the Cantopop scene in the 1980s as he was known for singing romantic ballads with modern arrangements. From 1983 to 1987, Alan Tam received numerous music awards and won Most Popular Male Artist and IFPI Award for successive four years, which made him the most famous superstar singer of Hong Kong in 1980s. In early 1988, he publicly quit all pop music award ceremonies and put most efforts in searching new direction for Cantopop music.
