Music as a Weapon is a series of concert tours created by the American Heavy metal music, metal band Disturbed (band), Disturbed. There have been seven editions of the tour, five in North America and two in Australasia. The name of the tour is from the lyrics of "Droppin' Plates" on Disturbed's first album, ''The Sickness''. Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Indestructible Tour
The Indestructible Tour was a 2008–09 concert tour by American heavy metal band Disturbed in support of the group's fourth studio album, '' Indestructible'', which was released in June 2008. The tour saw extensive legs throughout the United States, as well as tours in Europe, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. A DVD release entitled '' Indestructible in Germany'', which features a portion of the band's performance at the 2008 edition of the Rock am Ring Festival, was released in December 2008 exclusively through electronics retailer Best Buy. In March 2009, the band began a fourth iteration of their self-created package tour, Music as a Weapon, for U.S. markets. The trek featured acts such as Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, and Lacuna Coil, among others. The final leg took place in Europe in June 2009, beginning in Interlaken, Switzerland and wrapping up in early July in Turku, Finland. In This Moment
In This Moment is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed by singer Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth in 2005. They found drummer Jeff Fabb and started the band as Dying Star. Unhappy with their musical direction, they changed their name to In This Moment and gained two band members, guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell. In 2005, bassist Newell left the band and was replaced by Jesse Landry. Their debut album, ''Beautiful Tragedy'', was released in 2007. Their follow up, titled '' The Dream'' was released the following year debuting at number 73 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Sevendust
Sevendust is an American rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose and rhythm guitarist John Connolly. After their first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and lead guitarist Clint Lowery joined the group. Following a few name changes, the members settled on the name Sevendust and released their Sevendust (album), self-titled debut album on April 15, 1997, which sold only 310 copies in its first week but ultimately achieved gold certification through touring and support from their label, TVT Records. Asylum Tour (Disturbed)
Asylum Tour was a concert tour by American heavy metal band Disturbed in support of the group's fifth studio album, ''Asylum'', which was released in August 2010. The tour began in mid-August 2010 with an appearance as part of a series of concerts held during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, United States. This was followed by the commencement of the Uproar Festival, a North American touring event which features Disturbed as headliners and includes acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour and Hellyeah. The festival began in Minneapolis and culminated in Madison, Wisconsin in early October. After the Burial is an American progressive metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bury Your Dead is an American metalcore band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 2001. The current lineup is guitarist Chris Towning, lead vocalist Mat Bruso, drummer Mark Castillo, and bassist Aaron Patrick. Crooked X was a hard rock band from Coweta, Oklahoma, U.S., consisting of members Kevin Currie (lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Jesse Cooper (lead guitar/backing vocals), Boomer Simpson (drums, backing vocals), and Bradd Johnson (bass guitar). The band is now defunct and has not performed since 2011. Spineshank was an American metal band from Los Angeles.
