Museum Of Comic Art, Noordwijk
The Museum of Comic Art (MoCA) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, is an international art museum that specializes in original artwork by European and U.S. comic book and newspaper comic artists. Its primary focus are original comic strips and comic book pages by influential artists such as Winsor McCay, Richard Outcault, Hergé, André Franquin, Jijé, Peyo and Morris. There are new exhibitions every summer and winter. The museum opened its first exhibition, ''European Masters of Comic Art for Friends of MoCA'' on November 28, 2020. After the second COVID-19 lockdown around that time, the museum eventually opened its doors to the general public on 9 June 2021. Noordwijk
Noordwijk () is a town and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality covers an area of of which is water and had a population of in . On 1 January 2019, the former municipality of Noordwijkerhout became part of Noordwijk. Besides its beaches, Noordwijk is also known for its bulb flower fields. Nederlands Stripmuseum
The Nederlands Stripmuseum (; "Netherlands Comic Strip Museum") was a museum dedicated to Dutch language comic strips, with emphasis on native comic creations, and located in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. Overview Over a decade in the making, the museum was opened on 21 April 2004, by city mayor Jacques Wallage, with expected visitor numbers in the 40.000 to 100.000 range annually. At the opening, attended by many alumni from the Dutch comic scene, then museum chairman Bert Brink declared that it was justified that the museum was housed in Groningen, as the Dutch comic culture had its origins in the city. Around 1850 the comic ''Monsieur Cryptogame'' from Rodolphe Töpffer was translated into Dutch as ''Mijnheer Prikkebeen'' by city native, poet and novelist J.J.A. Goeverneur. Dutch Comics
Dutch comics are comics made in the Netherlands. In Dutch the most common designation for the whole art form is "strip" (short for "stripverhaal" – "strip story" – , though the old-fashioned expression "beeldverhaal" – "picture story" – remains utilized on occasion, particularly in formal texts and treatises on the subject matter), whereas the word "comic" is used for the (usually) soft cover American style comic book format and its derivatives, typically containing translated US superhero material. This use in colloquial Dutch of the adopted English word for that format can cause confusion in English language texts. Dick Matena
Dick Matena (born 24 April 1943) is a Dutch comics writer and cartoonist. He has also published under the pseudonyms A. den Dooier, John Kelly and Dick Richards. He has made several kinds of comics, from humor comics to erotic comics, but is best known for his comic book adaptations of famous literary novels. Biography Toonder studios In 1960, at the age of 17, Matena started working as a volunteer at the Toonder studios. He helped with the drawing projects of Tom Poes (1962–1963) and Panda (1961–1968). Lisse () is a town and municipality in the province of South Holland in the Western Netherlands. The municipality, which lies within the Duin- en Bollenstreek, covers an area of of which is water.
