Murwillumbah Railway Line
The Murwillumbah railway line is a mostly disused railway line in far north-eastern Northern Rivers New South Wales, Australia. The line ran from Casino to Lismore, Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and Murwillumbah, opening in 1894. It is one of only two branches off the North Coast line, (the other being the Dorrigo line). Train services to the region ceased in May 2004. The line from Casino to Bentley and Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek was formally closed on 23 September 2020 to facilitate the construction of a rail trail. The Byron Bay Train operates over a short three kilometre section of the track in Byron Bay. It is widely considered to be the world's first solar-powered train. Northern Rivers
Northern Rivers is the most north-easterly region of the Australian state of New South Wales, located between north of the state capital, Sydney, and encompasses the catchments and fertile valleys of the Clarence, Richmond, and Tweed rivers. It extends from Tweed Heads in the north (adjacent to the Queensland border) to the southern extent of the Clarence river catchment which lies between Grafton and Coffs Harbour, and includes the main towns of Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Ballina, Kyogle, Lismore, Casino and Grafton. At its most northern point, the region is south-southeast of the Queensland capital, Brisbane. As with all regions of New South Wales, it has no official status, although state government department offices and local governments in the area work together for purposes such as tourism, education, water catchment management and waste management. The North Coast Mail was an Australian passenger train that ran from Sydney via the North Coast line to Grafton until October 1985. It ran to Murwillumbah until April 1973 when replaced by the ''Gold Coast Motorail'' north of Grafton. South Coast Railway Line, Queensland

Ballina, New South Wales
Ballina () is a town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia, and the seat of the Ballina Shire local government area. Ballina's urban population at June 2018 was 26,381. The town lies on the Richmond River and serves as a gateway to Byron Bay. History Ballina is located on the ancestral land of the Bundjalung people, the original inhabitants. Archaeological evidence demonstrates Bundjalung occupation of the region for at least 6000 years. One view suggests that the name Ballina comes from corruption of a clan name for the ''Bullina'' band of the Arakwal. It has been argued that in this tribe's Bundjalung language, meant "place of many oysters". This theory argues that the Aboriginal name reminded the predominantly Irish settlers of "Ballina", so the name's origin could be an accidental or deliberate corruption. Booyong, New South Wales
"Booyong" is a locality in northern New South Wales, partially in Byron Shire and partially in the City of Lismore. It is named after the Booyong, or ironwood tree. For census purposes the locality is included in the village of Clunes. It is the location of the Booyong Flora Reserve, now part of the Andrew Johnston Big Scrub Nature Reserve, which is one of the few known locations of the endangered plant Isoglossa eranthemoides. The village is located on the North Coast railway line. The track work, bridges and platform for the former Booyong railway station remains. There are no buildings left in the station precinct. Wyee Railway Station
Wyee railway station is located on the Main Northern line in New South Wales, Australia. It serves the City of Lake Macquarie town of Wyee opening on 1 August 1892. Until the early 2000s, two sidings were located to the west of the station to serve a cement works just north of the station. Another siding was located to the east of the station. All have been removed. In August 2020 an upgrade was complete which included three new lifts. Platforms & services Wyee has one island platform with two faces. Interail
Interail was an Australian rail freight operator owned by QR National. In June 2011 it ceased trading as a separate brand, and became part of QR National (now known as Aurizon). Northern Rivers Railroad Northern Rivers Railroad was established in 1990 with the intention of running tourist trains on the Casino to Murwillumbah line in northern New South Wales. Four 421 class locomotives were purchased in 1990 and along with some former South Australian Railways steel and State Rail Authority carriages were restored to operational condition at Junee Locomotive Depot before moving to Casino in October 1996. On 22 September 1997, Northern Rivers Railroad commenced operating cement and flyash trains from Grafton to Casino and Murwillumbah under sub-contract to FreightCorp. The New South Wales ''XPT'' (short for eXpress Passenger Train) is a class of diesel-powered passenger trains built by Comeng and ABB Transportation.
