Hilgendorf's Tube-nosed Bat
Hilgendorf's tube-nosed bat (''Murina hilgendorfi'') is a species of vesper bat in the family Vespertilionidae. In Japan they are called 'tengu komori', after the mythical creature called the Tengu. It was formerly thought to be a subspecies of ''Murina leucogaster'' (called ''Murina leucogaster hilgendorfi''), but is now known to be a distinct species. Distribution Hilgendorf's tube-nosed bat is found in China, Russia (Primorsky Krai, Primorye and Sakhalin), Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Korea and Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu). Description Slender faced with tubular nostrils, it has oval ears with a prominent Tragus (ear), tragus, more than half of the ear in height.
