Murad (cigarette)
Murad was a brand of cigarettes. History Turkish tobacco is sun-cured, which makes it more aromatic and, like flue-cured tobacco, more acidic than air or smoke-cured tobacco, thus more suitable for cigarette production. In the early 1900s, manufactures of Turkish cigarettes tripled their sales and became legitimate competitors to leading brands. The New York-based Greek tobacconist Soterios Anargyros produced the hand-rolled Murad cigarettes, made of pure Turkish tobacco. Lorillard acquired the Murad brand in 1911 through the dissolution of the Cigarette Trust, explaining the high quality of the Murad advertisements in the following years. Marketing Murad referenced the Oriental roots of their Turkish tobacco blends through pack art and advertising images. Surely one of the most gorgeously over-the-top ad campaigns for any cigarette was the long-running series for Murad brand made by Rea Irvin. Murad (actor)
Hamid Ali Murad (24 September 1911 – 24 April 1997) known simply as Murad was an Indian character actor who appeared in more than 100 Hindi language films from the early 1940s through to the end of the 1980s, playing character roles of a father, police officer, judge and an emperor. His son Raza Murad is also an actor in the Hindi film industry who is known for playing mostly villain roles. His niece is actress Zeenat Aman and his granddaughters are actresses Sonam and Sanober Kabir. Early life Murad was born on 24 September 1911 in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, British India. He studied at Minto Circle (STS High School), Aligarh Muslim University. Career Murad's career began in the early 1940s when he made his acting debut in the 1943 film '' Najma'' which was directed by Mehboob Khan. ''Murad'', also known as ''Eunuch's Motherhood'', is an Urdu/Hindi language television drama film directed by Kamran Qureshi, written by Zafar Mairaj and produced by Iram Qureshi. The film is based on the motherhood of a eunuch, the term to describe a transgender person. Sohail Asghar played a role of eunuch called Saima, who kept struggling all life and finally succeeded in winning the love of her adopted son, when he became a father himself. Murad was awarded Best Telefilm of the year, Kamran Qureshi won Best Film Director Award and first prize of Rs. 500,000 in Indus Telefilm Festival 2003.
