Alcoy, Spain
Alcoy ( ca-valencia, Alcoi) is an industrial and university city, region and municipality located in the Valencian Community, Spain. The Serpis river crosses the municipal boundary of Alcoy. The local authority reported a population of 61,135 residents in 2018. History The first traces of human presence in the area date to c. 60,000 years ago, when Neanderthal hunters settled here, in a site now called El Salt. A site with rock paintings, dating to c. 10,000/6,500 years ago, has been discovered near la Sarga. From around the mid-3rd millennium BC people started to move from the caves to the plain where cereals were grown, while mountain fortifications were erected (''Mola Alta de Serelles'', ''Mas del Corral'', ''Mas de Menente'', ''El Puig''). Santa Pola
Santa Pola (Valencian and Spanish: ) is a coastal town located in the comarca of Baix Vinalopó in the Valencian Community, Spain, by the Mediterranean Sea. It has an area of and has a population of 30,000 inhabitants of whom 10,000 are residents of the nearby town of Gran Alacant. The town has an important salt evaporation pond known as the ''salines'' which remains in business, additionally, most of it is recognized as the Natural Park of Salines de Santa Pola, an important Ramsar site. The town was settled over the ruins of a Roman village called ''Portus Ilicitanus'' (literally, ''Harbour of Elche''); after being abandoned for decades, then a castle was constructed in the 16th century which marked the repopulation of Santa Pola. The town has an archeological museum covering these phases. Santa Pola is, at present, a coastal fishing and tourist town. Villena
Villena () is a city in Spain, in the Valencian Community. It is located at the northwest part of Alicante (province), Alicante, and borders to the west with Castilla-La Mancha and Region of Murcia, Murcia, to the north with the province of Valencia and to the east and south with the province of Alicante. It is the capital of the Comarques of the Valencian Community, comarca of the Alto Vinalopó. The municipality has an area of 345.6 km² and a population of 34,928 inhabitants as of Instituto Nacional de Estadística (Spain), INE 2008. Petrer
Petrer (, es, Petrel ) is a town and municipality located in the ''comarca'' of Vinalopó Mitjà, in the province of Alicante of the autonomous community of Valencia, Spain. Petrer joins together with the city of Elda to form a conurbation with over 95,000 inhabitants. The creek Rambla dels Molins (''Riverbed of the Mills''), a tributary of the river Vinalopó, runs through the urban area of Petrer. The economy of Petrer is based on the industries of footwear, furs, plastics, construction materials and pottery. Burriana, Castellón
Burriana () or Borriana () is a municipality in eastern Spain, in the province of Castellón, part of the Valencia (autonomous community), Valencian Community. Its population exceeds 34,000. Villajoyosa
La Vila Joiosa () is a coastal town and municipality in the Province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain, by the Mediterranean Sea. The town is known to the locals simply as La Vila. It is the historic and administrative capital of the ''comarca'' of Marina Baixa and is located 32 km from the city of Alicante, in the coastal area known as Costa Blanca (''White Coast''). La Vila Joiosa literally means ''Joyful Town'', although the inhabitants often abbreviate it to ''La Vila''. Dénia
Dénia ( es, Denia) is a historical coastal city in the province of Alicante, Spain, on the Costa Blanca halfway between Alicante and Valencia, and the capital and judicial seat of the ''comarca'' of Marina Alta. Denia's historical heritage has been influenced by Iberian, Greek, Roman, Islamic, Napoleonic and Christian civilizations. , it had a population of 41,672, although this is more than doubled by tourism during the summer months. Mislata
Mislata is a city in the Valencian Community, Spain. It has borders with the city of Valencia and Quart de Poblet in the west and Xirivella in the south. Population In recent decades it has gone from being a village in the Horta region of the Valencian Community, to the most densely populated borough in Spain and one of the ten most densely populated in Europe, with a population of 43,363 (2006 figures) spread across 2.1 km². This growth has been assisted by better transport communications including the opening of two stations of the Valencian metro on 20 May 1999 in the town which provide a direct connection to the main railway station and the main shopping area in Carrer de Colón.
