''Mr. Fixit'' is a Canadian instructional television series which aired on CBC Television from 1955 to 1965. Premise The series demonstrated home repairs and construction by Peter Whittall, previously seen on ''Living''. Whittall, nicknamed Mr. Fixit, was joined by host Rex Loring Rex Loring (November 25, 1925 - April 21, 2017) was a British-born Canadian radio announcer, best known as a longtime anchor of '' World Report'', the morning newscast on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's radio news and talk network.Helen Bra .... Due to its 15-minute time slot, ''Mr. Fixit'' concentrated on basic repair and construction techniques. Scheduling The first five seasons of this 15-minute series were broadcast on Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern) from the debut on 8 October 1955. Rex Loring (November 25, 1925 - April 21, 2017) was a British-born Canadian radio announcer, best known as a longtime anchor of '' World Report'', the morning newscast on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's radio news and talk network.Helen Branswell, "Rex Loring signs off from CBC". Patrick Watson (producer)
Patrick Watson (December 23, 1929July 4, 2022) was a Canadian broadcaster, television and radio interviewer and host, author, commentator, actor, television writer, producer, and director for five decades. Early life Born on December 23, 1929, in Toronto, Watson attended the University of Toronto and graduated with an MA. He began working on his doctorate at the University of Michigan, but withdrew in 1955 to focus on working for CBC Television. Career Watson's first broadcast, in 1943, was as a radio actor in the CBC's children's dramatic series ''The Kootenay Kid''. He first achieved national fame (and in some quarters, notoriety) as the co-producer and, with Laurier LaPierre, on-camera co-host of the CBC Television current affairs program ''This Hour Has Seven Days'' in the mid-1960s.
