Mozart's Mini-Mart
''Mozart Estate Present Go-Kart Mozart in Mozart's Mini-Mart'' (shortened to ''Mozart's Mini-Mart'') is the fourth studio album by Go-Kart Mozart, the musical project of former Felt and Denim frontman Lawrence. It was released on February 23, 2018 on West Midlands Records, a subsidiary of Cherry Red. The album was originally envisioned by Lawrence as a mini-album, and was intended to be a companion piece to the band's previous album ''On the Hot Dog Streets''. However, the mini-album was never completed in time, and has now been extended into a 17-track full-length album. The album was produced by Ian Button, formerly of the band Death in Vegas. The album's release coincided with the remastered editions of the first five Felt albums by Cherry Red on CD and vinyl. Felt (band)
Felt were an English jangle pop band, formed in 1979 in Water Orton, England, and led by the mononymous Lawrence. They were active for ten years through the 1980s, releasing ten singles and ten albums. The band's name was inspired by Tom Verlaine's emphasis of the word "felt" in the Television song "Venus". Felt have been cited as an influence by Belle and Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch and Tim Burgess of the Charlatans, as well as by alternative rock bands Manic Street Preachers, Girls, and the Tyde. Roger Whittaker
Roger Henry Brough Whittaker (born 22 March 1936) is a British singer-songwriter and musician, who was born in Nairobi to English parents. His music is an eclectic mix of folk music and popular songs in addition to radio airplay hits. He is best known for his baritone singing voice and trademark whistling ability as well as his guitar skills. He is widely known for his version of "Wind Beneath My Wings" (1982), as well as his own compositions "Durham Town (The Leavin')" (1969) and "I Don't Believe in If Anymore" (1970). ''New World in the Morning'' is a studio album by Roger Whittaker released in 1971. It featured some of his most popular songs, including "The Last Farewell", "A Special Kind of Man", the title track "New World in the Morning" (#12 US Easy Listening; UK #17) and " Streets of London". History Whittaker released the album in 1971 at the peak of his popularity. It included the hit "The Last Farewell", which won Whittaker an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting. A mini-LP or mini-album is a short vinyl record album or LP, usually retailing at a lower price than an album that would be considered full-length. Lawrence Hayward (born 12 August 1961) is an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is known as the frontman in the English indie pop bands Felt, Denim, and Mozart Estate (formerly Go-Kart Mozart). He has never used his surname in credits or press for his work. Music career Felt Felt released ten albums in the 1980s, and Lawrence was the only constant member of the band from its inception in 1979 to its dissolution in 1989, though he doesn't appear at all on the band's penultimate album, '' Train Above The City'', despite being present at the recording sessions. Denim were an English indie rock band, the brainchild of Lawrence (formerly of Felt), and was based in Birmingham, England. Go-Kart Mozart
Mozart Estate, formerly known as Go-Kart Mozart, are an English indie pop band founded by Lawrence, previously of the bands Felt and Denim. Lawrence formed the group as a reaction to his previous bands' lack of commercial success. He has called it "the world's first B-side band," which he explains "simply meant that you would take away the pressure of I've got to write a hit single, I've got to write an album that's going to get in the top ten." The band's original name is derived from a line in the song "Blinded by the Light" by Bruce Springsteen.
