Movement For Reversal
The Movement for Reversal ( sr-Cyrl, Покрет за преокрет, Pokret za preokret, PZP) is a centre-left political organization in Serbia. Its leader is Janko Veselinović, a professor at the University of Novi Sad. History Movement for Reversal was found in 2015, by a Serbian academic Janko Veselinović, who decided to split from the Social Democratic Party, claiming that its leadership does not have a clear vision of how to counter the Serbian Progressive Party and the Socialist Party of Serbia. The organization participated in the 2016 Serbian parliamentary elections in a coalition along with the Serbian Left and the Social Democratic Union. However, the coalition finished ninth with 0.94% of the votes and failed to pass the census. Janko Veselinović (lawyer)
Janko Veselinović (Serbian Cyrillic: Јанко Веселиновић; born November 6, 1965) is a Serbian academic and politician. He is a professor at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Agriculture and a Deputy of the National Assembly of Serbia. He holds a master's degree in contracts on commercial representation and a PhD on legal regulation of governance in domestic and comparative law. Professional career From 1991 to 2001 he worked in the ''YUCO'' company in Novi Sad, in the area of law degree and later as general manager of ''YUCO HEMIJE''. By decision of the Assembly of Novi Sad in 2002 he was appointed as director of the ''JKP "Novosadska toplana"'' (PUC Novi Sad Heating), and from 2004 he was the Assistant Secretary of Science and Technology in the Executive Council of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Social Democratic Union (Serbia)
The Social Democratic Union ( sr, Социјалдемократска унија, Socijaldemokratska unija; abbr. СДУ, SDU) was a minor social democratic and leftist political party in Serbia. In 2020 Party merged into Party of the Radical Left. History The Social Democratic Union was registered on 13 May 1996. It was founded by former members of the Civic Alliance of Serbia, led by Žarko Korać, who opposed forming coalition with the right-wing Serbian Renewal Movement for the 1996 federal election. Zdravko Ponoš
Zdravko Ponoš ( sr-cyrl, Здравко Понош; born 3 November 1962) is a Serbian politician, former diplomat, and retired general who served as chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces from 2006 to 2008. Born in Golubić, a village near Knin, Ponoš later moved to Zagreb, where he spent most of his youth and obtained a degree in electronic engineering. Ponoš moved to Serbia in 1986, where he began his military career. Two years later, he obtained a job at the Department of Development and Equipment in Belgrade, where he worked until 2002. Ponoš then acquired a position at the Ministry of Defense, where he served as an advisor to multiple ministers, including future president Boris Tadić. In 2005, he was promoted to the rank of major general after having served as a colonel since 2000, and also became deputy chief of the General Army. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić stated that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. 2017 Serbian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Serbia on 2 April 2017. Incumbent president Tomislav Nikolić was eligible to run for a second five-year term, but opted not to do so. Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić was elected president in the first round. The election was marred by accusations of voter intimidation and a near total domination of the Serbian media by Vučić and his party. Following the announcement of the results, protests were held across Serbia against Vučić's victory.
