Mountain
A mountain is an elevated portion of the Earth's crust, generally with steep sides that show significant exposed bedrock. Although definitions vary, a mountain may differ from a plateau in having a limited Summit (topography), summit area, and is usually higher than a hill, typically rising at least 300 metres (1,000 feet) above the surrounding land. ''Mountain'' is a British television series written and presented by Griff Rhys Jones that was originally broadcast 29 July – 26 August 2007 on BBC One. The five programmes follow Rhys Jones as he traverses the mountains of Great Britain, from Wales to the Northern Highlands of Scotland. He also looks at the effect mountains have on the people who live near them, and ''vice versa''. The series is an IWC Media production for BBC Scotland. Part of a themed season by the BBC entitled 'Ultimate Outdoors', ''Mountain'' was produced by Ian MacMillan; the executive producers were Richard Klein and Andrea Miller (for the BBC), and Hamish Barbour (for IWC Media). ''Mountain'' is a 2003 television and cinema advertisement launched by Sony Corporation to promote the PlayStation 2 video game console. The budget for production and advertising space purchases for the 60-second piece amounted to £5m across all markets. The commercial depicts a Brazilian crowd congregating to form a mountain of human bodies, all competing to reach the top of the pile. The campaign surrounding ''Mountain'' was handled by advertising agency TBWA London. The commercial was directed by Frank Budgen. Production was contracted to Gorgeous Enterprises, with post-production by The Mill. ''Mountain'' premiered in 30 countries on 13 November 2003. ''Mountain'' is part of the larger "Fun, Anyone?" series, launched earlier in 2003, which aimed to increase market share for the PlayStation 2 in the family demographic. Mountain Records is a record label started in Cape Town, South Africa in 1980 by Patrick Lee-Thorp. The record label produces mostly South African music and is known as the home of Cape Jazz recordings, having issued a number of albums by such names as Basil Coetzee, Robbie Jansen, Jonathan Butler, Tony Schilder and others. In the early years of the label's existence, a certain amount of commercial success was garnered from releases by such artists as David Kramer (singer), David Kramer, Robin Auld and later the neo-traditional African band Amampondo. This success was partly due to the label's involvement in the live presentation of these artists. Lucy Honour Ruby Spraggan (born 21 July 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. She auditioned for ''The X Factor (UK series 9), The X Factor'' in 2012, performing her own composition, "Last Night (Lucy Spraggan song), Last Night". On 3 November 2012, it was announced she would be quitting her run on ''The X Factor'' due to illness, so she subsequently finished in ninth place, and second in her category. Following the show Spraggan was signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. Spraggan was the first contestant in the show's history to score a Top 40 single and album before the live shows aired, with her independently released album ''Top Room at the Zoo''. "Mountains" is a 1986 song by American musician Prince and The Revolution, from his eight album, ''Parade'' (1986), and the soundtrack to the film ''Under the Cherry Moon''. It was written by The Revolution members Wendy & Lisa together with Prince. The extended 12" single version of the song runs nearly ten minutes. It reached number 23 in the US but only 45 in the UK. The B-side was the instrumental "Alexa de Paris", one of the few tracks from this project featuring a guitar solo. Both songs appear in the film ''Under the Cherry Moon'', with the video for "Mountains" playing as the credits roll. ''The Chronicles of Life and Death'' is the third studio album by American rock band Good Charlotte. Following the release of ''The Young and the Hopeless'' (2002), the group spent two years touring.
