Mount Pleasant Historic District is a historic district encompassing a cluster of well-preserved 19th-century residential buildings on Forest Street and Mount Pleasant Avenue in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. First developed in 1833, it was one Roxbury's first speculative residential subdivision developments. The district features Greek Revival, Italianate, and Romanesque architecture, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Description and history The Mount Pleasant Historic District covers about in central Roxbury, and includes all of the properties on Mount Pleasant Avenue and Forest Street south of Dudley Street, as well as the properties on Vine Street between the two. Mount Pleasant Downtown Historic District (Isabella, Michigan)
The Mount Pleasant Downtown Historic District is a commercial historic district roughly bounded by Mosher, Franklin, Illinois and Washington Streets in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. History In 1860, Mount Pleasant was founded as the county seat of Isabella County. It began as a tiny settlement, and the first store was not opened until 1864. However, it rapidly developed, and within a year had a church, a school, and a newspaper. Over the next ten years, a number of other commercial businesses were opened in what is now the downtown area. In 1875, the community incorporated as a village, and also suffered a devastating fire that destroyed almost the entire downtown. However, new buildings were quickly erected, with brick becoming the material of choice rather than frame construction. Mount Pleasant Collegiate Institute Historic District
Mount Pleasant Collegiate Institute Historic District is a national historic district located at Mount Pleasant, Cabarrus County, North Carolina. The district encompasses six contributing buildings associated with the Mount Pleasant Collegiate Institute, also known as Western Carolina Male Academy and North Carolina College. They are the three story brick Main Building (1854-1855); Greek Revival style President's House; Matthias Barrier house; Society Hall; the Boarding House (1868); and the New Building (1925). The Western Carolina Male Academy was established in 1852 by the North Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. The institute closed in 1933 after which, in 1941, the property was put up to auction. The Lentz Hotel was moved inside the district boundaries in 1980.
