Moulsecoomb Railway Station
Moulsecoomb railway station serves Moulsecoomb and Hollingdean, both suburbs of Brighton in East Sussex, England. Train services from the station are provided by Southern, and the station is on the East Coastway Line down the line from . The station was opened in May 1980 — the first completely new station on the then Southern Region since the Beeching Axe. It is located adjacent to the Moulsecoomb campus of the University of Brighton. The station has separate entrances to each platform; these are connected by a footbridge which also serves as a public right of way. The entrance to Platform 1 (the westbound platform) is via a set of steps from Queensdown School Road, a steeply sloping cul-de-sac off the main Lewes Road. Platform 2 is reached from a path leading from the end of Crespin Way, another cul-de-sac at the eastern edge of the Hollingdean estate. Moulsecoomb () is a suburb of Brighton, Sussex, England, on the northeast side around Lewes Road, between Coldean and Bevendean, north of the seafront. The eastern edge adjoins Falmer Hill on the South Downs. It is often divided into smaller sections on maps: North Moulsecoomb, East Moulsecoomb and South Moulsecoomb. The name is sometimes pronounced as if spelt ''Mools-coomb'', though more often the first part is pronounced like the animal "mole". It derives from the Old English for ''Muls Valley'': Mul was a Saxon nobleman. Moulsecoomb suffers from high social deprivation and crime rates, along with neighbouring Whitehawk. Lewes Road, Brighton
Lewes Road is a major road in the English seaside city of Brighton and Hove. It was part of the A27 cross-country trunk route until the Brighton Bypass took this designation in the 1990s; since then it has been designated the A270. The road runs northeastwards from central Brighton through a steep-sided valley, joining the A27 at the city boundary (formerly the borough boundary) and continuing to Lewes, the county town of East Sussex.
