Mossy O'Riordan
Maurice Francis "Mossy" O'Riordan (1926 - 27 August 2008) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Blackrock, County Cork, O'Riordan first played with the Cork senior team at the age of twenty. He made his debut during the 1946 championship. O'Riordan became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won two All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions O'Riordan won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he played with Blackrock. O'Riordan's brother, Gerry, was a four-time All-Ireland medallist with Cork. Throughout his career O'Riordan made 18 championship appearances. Blackrock GAA
Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. The club is sometimes known as 'The Rockies'. History Blackrock Hurling Club was officially founded in 1883, one year before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. It is therefore the oldest hurling club in Cork. Until 1888 the club was known as Cork Nationals, when it changed its name to National Hurling Club of Blackrock, and later in the same year to Blackrock National Hurling Club. The 1952 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 66th staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 27 April 1952 and ended on 7 September 1952. Tipperary were the defending champions and were on course for a record-equalling fourth successive All-Ireland, however, they were defeated in the provincial championship. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1946 was the 60th series of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. Cork won the championship, beating Kilkeny 7-5 to 3-8 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. Format The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was run on a provincial basis as usual. Liam Dowling
Liam Dowling (25 January 1931 – 20 November 1996) was an Irish former hurler who played as a full-forward for the Cork senior team. Dowling made his first appearance for the team during the 1952 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen at various intervals for much of the next decade. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. At club level Dowling is a county senior championship medalist with Sarsfields. He also played with Castlemartyr. Playing career Club Dowling began his club hurling career with his local Castlemartyr club. In 1951 he won his first county junior championship with the club following a 6-5 to 2-7 defeat of Cloughduv. Dowling won further divisional titles with the club before moving to the Sarsfields club in the mid-fifties. 'Sars' secured the county senior championship in 1957. Willie John Daly
William John Daly (25 January 1925 – 29 November 2017) was an Irish hurler and coach who played as a centre-forward for the Cork senior team. Born in Carrigtwohill, County Cork, Daly first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-two when he first linked up with the Cork junior team. He made his senior debut during the 1947 championship. Daly immediately became a regular member of the team and won three All-Ireland medals, four Munster medals and two National Hurling League medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Daly won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he won several championship medals in the junior and intermediate grades with Carrigtwohill. Daly also played for divisional side Imokilly. Terry Leahy (hurler)
Thaddeus Leahy (9 March 1917 – November 1988) was an Irish people, Irish sportsperson. He played hurling at various times with his local clubs Emeralds in Kilkenny and Faughs in Dublin. Leahy was also a member of both the Kilkenny and Dublin senior inter-county teams from 1938 until 1949. Playing career Club Leahy played his club hurling with his local Emeralds club in Urlingford, however, he enjoyed little success with the club and never won a senior county title. Leahy later played club hurling with the Faughs club in Dublin and he won seven county titles. Inter-county Leahy first came to prominence on the inter-county scene as a member of the Kilkenny minor team in the 1930s. He won a Leinster title in this grade in 1935 before later lining out in the minor championship decider.
