Moore County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, its population was 99,727. Its county seat is Carthage and its largest municipality is the Village of Pinehurst. It is a border county between the Piedmont and the Atlantic Coastal Plain. In the early years, the economy was dependent on agriculture and lumber. The lumber business expanded after railroads reached the area, improving access to markets. It lies at the northern edge of the area known as the Sandhills region, and developed resorts in the late 19th century, aided by railroads. The population was 62,793 at the 2020 census, making Moore the seventh-largest city in the state of Oklahoma. Geography Moore is located in northeastern Frio County at (29.065636, -99.013345). Interstate 35 passes through the community, with access from Exit 114. I-35 leads northeast to downtown San Antonio and southwest to Pearsall, the Frio County seat. Moore College of Art & Design is a Private college, private art school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its undergraduate programs are available only for female students, but its other educational programs, including graduate programs, are co-educational. History Founded in 1848 by Sarah Peter, Sarah Worthington Peter as the Philadelphia School of Design for Women, it was the first women's art school in the United States. Moore Catholic High School is an American private, Catholic school in the Bulls Head neighborhood of Staten Island, New York. It was founded by the Presentation Sisters of Staten Island in September 1962 and named for Mary Young Moore, a beneficiary to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York, and was the first archdiocesan high school for girls on Staten Island.
