Moore's Island
Moore's Island is one of the districts of the Bahamas, districts of the Bahamas, on the Abaco Islands. Moore's Island is a cay, to the west of the main island of Abaco. It is approximately long and wide. It has two settlements, Hard Bargain, which is the capital, and the other settlement is the Bight. The population has been reported as 950. To arrive to Moore's Island by boat traveling from Sandy Point one passes Castaway Cay, Gorda Cay (Castaway Cay); Long Rock can be passed on either side, staying offshore in deep waters because inland passage is too risky. Then one passes south Channel Cay (Stake Cay) which has a light tower. After passing Channel Cay a direct approach is taken to the north end of Moore's Island to locate Hard Bargain. Castaway Cay
Disney's Castaway Cay, or simply Castaway Cay (), is a private island in the Bahamas which serves as an exclusive port for the Disney Cruise Line ships. It is located near Great Abaco Island and was formerly known as Gorda Cay. In 1997, The Walt Disney Company purchased a 99-year land lease (through to 2096) for the cay from the Bahamian government, giving the company substantial control over the island. Castaway Cay was the first private island in the cruise industry where the ship docks on the island, eliminating the need for guests to be tendered to land. Steven Gardiner
Steven Gardiner (born 12 September 1995) is a Bahamian track and field sprinter competing in the 400 metres and 200 metres. He is the current Olympic and world champion in the 400 m, and also won the silver medal at the 2017 World Championships in that event. His winning time of 43.48 s from the 2019 World Championships is the Bahamian record and makes him the sixth-fastest man in the history of the event. Gardiner also owns the Bahamian records in the outdoor 300 m and 200 m, with times of 31.83 s and 19.75 s respectively, and the world best in the indoor 300 m at 31.56 s. Elroy McBride (born December 23, 1993) is a Bahamian sprinter from Abaco Islands in The Bahamas who competed in the 200m and 400. He attended Moores Island All-Age School in Moore's Island where he was a part of the Exterminators Track and Field Club, Coached by Pastor Anthony Williams. He then went on to compete for Southwestern Christian College and Texas Tech University. McBride ran the 200m at the 2015 NACAC Championships in Athletics in San Jose, Costa Rica. He was also a part of the 4x100 relay at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada and the 2015 World Athletics Championships in Beijing, China.
