Montross, Virginia
Montross is a town in Westmoreland County, Virginia, United States. The population was 553 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Westmoreland County. Located in the historic Northern Neck of Virginia, Montross is near the George Washington Birthplace National Monument and the Stratford Hall Plantation (the birthplace of Robert E. Lee and Founding Fathers and signers of the Declaration of Independence, Richard Henry Lee and Francis Lightfoot Lee). The town's slogan is ''return to the village''. History The Old Westmoreland Court House in Montross was the site of notable events in 1774–1775 connected with the Revolutionary War. According to an historic marker at the courthouse, a resolution was introduced by Richard Henry Lee and adopted at a meeting there on June 22, 1774, providing aid to Boston, Massachusetts, following a blockade of that beleaguered port city by Great Britain. ( Khmer: មនត្រស ផានសុវណ្ណអារុន) is a Cambodian swimmer. He mostly competed in 50m, 100m, and 200m swimming competitions and currently holds the national record of 26.70 in the 50m butterfly at the SEA Games. Careers He made his debut at the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Men 50m Freestyle when he was 16 years old. He also competed at the 2021 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m). He won a bronze medal in Men 50m Freestyle at Thailand National Championships (25m course). He participated in the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam and the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, which he is also an athlete's oath. Christine Montross
Christine Elaine Montross (born 1973) is an American medical doctor and writer. First a published poet and a high school teacher, she later took up medical studies, and became an assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown University's Alpert Medical School. She is the recipient of a 2015 Guggenheim Fellowship. Personal life and early career Montross was born to Scott and Janice Montross. She is a sister of former NBA basketball player and sports commentator Eric Montross. Montross grew up in Indianapolis before moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan to attend the University of Michigan. There, she studied French literature and environmental science as an undergraduate and went on to receive a Master of Arts in poetry from the same university in 1998. Eric Scott “Big Grits” Montross (born September 23, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for eight seasons with the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, and Toronto Raptors. Born in Indianapolis, he played for Lawrence North High School before enrolling at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to play for the Tar Heels. Lynn Montross
Lynn Montross was born in Battle Creek, Nebraska in 1895, and lived in Denver, Colorado, before moving to Washington, D.C. He studied at the University of Nebraska before serving three years in an American Expeditionary Force (AEF) regiment in World War I, and afterward became a free-lance writer for the Chicago Daily News. He died in 1961, barely a year after the publication of the third edition his most important book, '' War Through the Ages''. Lynn Montress is one of the foremost post-World War II Western military historians. From 1950 to 1961 he was a historical writer for the United States Marine Corps and lived in the Washington, D.C. area. Though he only published seven books during his life, his insightful monumental lifetime work, ''War Through the Ages'' (1960), stands as one of the important works of military history in the 20th century. Mont Ross
Mont Ross is a stratovolcano, the highest mountain in the Kerguelen Islands at . It is located in the Gallieni Massif, at the end of the Gallieni Peninsula, east of Baie Larose on the main island of Grande Terre. The volcano is composed primarily of trachybasalt and was active during the late Pleistocene. History Mont Ross was named after explorer Sir James Clark Ross. The first human being to set foot on its summit was French military engineer Henri Journoud, using a helicopter, in the early 1960s. The mountain was, however, first climbed in 1975 by Jean Afanassieff and Patrick Cordier, the last French mountain to be climbed.
