Montenegro At The 2020 Summer Olympics
Montenegro competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's fourth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics since gaining independence in 2006. Competitors The following is the list of number of competitors in the Games. Montenegrin Olympic Committee
The Montenegrin Olympic Committee ( Montenegrin: Црногорски олимпијски комитет / Crnogorski olimpijski komitet) is the National Olympic Committee representing Montenegro. It is responsible for promoting the Olympic ideals and for ensuring that Montenegro is represented with athletes at the Olympic Games and other multi-sport events. The committee's president, , is Dušan Simonović. Members of the committee are 20 sports federations, which elect the Executive Council composed of the president and sixteen members. Karla Prodan (born 29 August 1998) is a Croatian judoka. She won one of the bronze medals in the women's 78kg event at the 2020 European Judo Championships held in Prague, Czech Republic. She competed in the women's 78kg event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Career In 2019, Prodan competed in the women's 78kg event at the World Judo Championships held in Tokyo, Japan where she was eliminated in her first match by Ma Zhenzhao of China. 2020 IHF Women's Olympic Qualification Tournaments
The 2020 IHF Women's Olympic Qualification Tournaments were held from 19 to 21 March 2021, in Spain, Hungary and Montenegro. Four teams took part in each tournament, with the two best-ranked teams qualifying for Tokyo 2020. On 13 March 2020, the IHF postponed the tournaments due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, the tournaments were scheduled to take place from 20 to 22 March 2020. The tournaments were rescheduled for 19 to 21 March 2021. Format There were three Olympic Qualification Tournaments. Handball At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's handball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics was the 12th edition of the handball event for women at the Summer Olympic Games. It was held from 25 July to 8 August 2021. All games were played at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2020, but on 24 March 2020, the Olympics were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of this pandemic, the games were played behind closed doors. The final was a rematch of the previous between France and Russia. After Russia won 22–19 in the 2016 final France got the upper hand with a 30–25 win this time. Norway won the bronze medal after winning 36–19 against Sweden. This meant that France won both gold medals as the first team since 1984. Montenegro Women's National Handball Team
The Montenegro women's national handball team is the national team of Montenegro. It is governed by the Handball Federation of Montenegro and takes part in international handball competitions. History Montenegro's women's national handball team was formed in 2006, shortly after Montenegro gained independence. It was founded upon ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica, a club with numerous European trophies, which produced many famous Montenegrin players. 2006–2011 Montenegro has been playing in official competitions since 2006. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same.
