"Monsters" is a song recorded by American country music singer Eric Church, who co-wrote the song with Jeff Hyde. It is the third single from Church's sixth studio album '' Desperate Man''. Content and history The song uses the analogy of a monster hiding under a child's bed to represent troubles in one's life. Taste of Country writer Sterling Whitaker wrote that "Church sings over simple acoustic guitar chords to open the track. But as the song progresses, he admits that he's turned to prayer to face his all-too-real challenges as an adult." According to Church, the idea for the song came when he was confronted by his then seven-year-old son Boone, who asked him to turn on a light to keep away "monsters". Kenneth Eric Church (born May 3, 1977) is an American country music singer-songwriter. He has released nine studio albums through Capitol Nashville since 2005. His debut album, 2006's '' Sinners Like Me'', produced three singles on the ''Billboard'' country charts including the top 20 hits " How 'Bout You", "Two Pink Lines", and "Guys Like Me". Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. On October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, opened fire on the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in . ''Desperate Man'' (stylized in all lowercase) is the sixth album by American country music singer Eric Church. It was released via EMI Nashville and Snakefarm Records on October 5, 2018. The album's lead single is its title track. History Church announced the album's release on July 13, 2018, via a livestream to his fanclub, the Church Choir. The lead single, which is the title track, was shipped to radio a day prior to this announcement. The album consists of 11 songs, and Church revealed the tracklisting on a pre-order page on his website. As with all of his previous albums, it was produced by Jay Joyce.
