Monash University Malaysia, established in 1998, is a significant branch of one of Australia's largest universities, Monash University. It is the first foreign university campus in Malaysia and the third largest campus of its parent institution. The main campus is located in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. The university also has a clinical school in Johor Bahru. History Conception and development In the early 1990s, Monash University established a partnership with Sunway University. Under this arrangement, Malaysian students would enrol and spend their first year in Malaysia, before transferring to one of Monash's Australian campuses to complete their degree. Demand increased for these places rapidly and the potential to expand the program was clear. Mal Logan
Malcolm Ian Logan (3 June 1931 – 17 September 2022) was an Australian geographer and university administrator. He was Vice-Chancellor of Monash University from 1987 to 1996. Logan grew up in country New South Wales, attending secondary school in the remote town of Tamworth. He moved to Sydney to complete an honours degree in geography at the University of Sydney, which he finished in 1951. After spending some time as a teacher in secondary schools, he returned to Sydney to complete his PhD and take up a position as Professor of Geography and Urban Planning. He then spent time at a range of universities overseas, living in the US and Nigeria. Later in his career, he became involved in both the World Bank and the OECD as an adviser on urban planning. Sunway University, located in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia, is a private research university. The university is on a 8.9-hectare (22-acre) campus within Sunway City.
