Molnár (or Molnar) is a Hungarian surname meaning "miller". The word might be a loanword from Slavic "mlynar" with the same meaning however most likely derived from the old Germanic "Mulinari”. Ferenc Molnár ( , ; born Ferenc Neumann; 12 January 18781 April 1952), often anglicized as Franz Molnar, was a Hungarian-born author, stage-director, dramatist, and poet, widely regarded as Hungary’s most celebrated and controversial playwright. His primary aim through his writing was to entertain by transforming his personal experiences into literary works of art. Albert Szenczi Molnár
Albert Szenczi Molnár (30 August 1574 – 17 January 1634) was a Hungarian Calvinist pastor, linguist, philosopher, poet, religious writer and translator. Although he lived the largest part of his life abroad (Wittenberg, Strassburg, Heidelberg, Altdorf, Marburg and Oppenheim) and the majority of his work was born there, Albert Szenczi Molnár contributed his work to the benefit of his country. Quoting his friends he wrote in one of his letters: His pioneering Latin-Hungarian dictionaries (''Dictionarium Latinovngaricvm'' and ''Dictionarivm Vngarico-Latinvm'', both 1604), were, with several revisions, still in use until the first half of the 19th century. Farkas Molnár
Farkas "Wolfgang" Ferenc Molnár (1897–1945) was a Hungarian architect, painter, essayist, and graphic artist. He is associated with the first generation of Bauhaus movement, and was active in Budapest. Biography Farkas Molnár was born in 1897 in Pécs, southwestern Hungary. He attended Hungarian University of Fine Arts from 1915 to 1917; followed by study at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 1917 before he was expelled for his leftist views. In 1921, he became a member of Bauhaus University, Weimar and studied under Johannes Itten, and later Walter Gropius. In 1923, he organized the first exhibition of the Bauhaus, at which time he exhibited a plan for a house known as ''.'' Csilla Molnár
Csilla Andrea Molnár (20 January 1969 – 10 July 1986) was a Hungary, Hungarian beauty contest, beauty queen. She was crowned Miss Hungary on 5 October 1985, in Budapest, the first Hungarian beauty queen after a 50-year interval. She also entered for the Miss Europe 1985#"Comité Officiel et International Miss Europe" 1986 Competition, Miss Europa 1986 beauty contest in Malta, where she came in third place. She committed suicide on 10 July 1986 by overdosing on lidocaine. In a radio interview, shortly before her death, she complained of being harassed by the public saying: "I don't know whether I can bear this, everybody is harassing me. They ask: Where and from whom did you get those beautiful clothes? Who helped you? Do you or your father have special connections with the jury? And so on". Ferenc Zoltán Molnár
Ferenc "Frankie" Zoltán Molnár (February 14, 1943 – May 20, 1967) was a United States Army soldier of Hungarian descent and a recipient of the United States military's highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the Vietnam War. Frankie and Zoli are nicknames of Ferenc and Zoltán, respectively. Biography Molnár joined the Army from Fresno, California in 1962, and by May 20, 1967, was serving as a Staff Sergeant in Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. During an enemy assault on that day, in Kontum Province, Republic of Vietnam, Molnár organized his squad's defense and, when a grenade landed among them, smothered the blast with his body at the expense of his life. Molnár, aged 24 at his death, was buried in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, West Virginia. Ferenc Molnár (8 April 1891 – ?) was a Hungarian football player and manager. As a player, he played as a midfielder and competed with MTK Budapest Magyar Testgyakorlók Köre is a multi-sports club from Budapest, founded in 1888. It has sections for football, handball, basketball, volleyball, futsal, ice hockey, water polo, cycling, gymnastics, athletics, fencing, canoeing, boxing, wrestlin ... for thirteen years before moving to Italy to play for and manage many clubs. From 1920 onwards, starting with Spes Genova; Molnár acted as a player-manager, eventually in 1926 he became just a manager. György Molnár (footballer)
György Molnár (12 February 1901 – 25 January 1977) was a Hungarian footballer who began his career in Hungary before finishing it in the American Soccer League. Club career Molnár began his career with MTK Hungária FC in the Hungarian League. In 1927, he moved to the United States where he signed with the New York Giants of the American Soccer League. He spent only one season with New York before moving to the Brooklyn Hakoah for the fall 1929 season. Following that season, Molnar transferred to the Brooklyn Wanderers where he finished his career. Ferenc Molnár (born 1 February 1982, Szolnok), known by the stage name Caramel, is a Hungary, Hungarian singer. He is most well known for winning the second season of Megasztár. Personal life Caramel was born on 1 February 1982 in the town of Szolnok. He is of Romani people in Hungary, Hungarian Roma descent. At age 16, he moved to Törökszentmiklós with his stepfather, mother and siblings. His parents' relationship deteriorated after his brother was killed in a car crash, leading him to move out at age 17. Work was hard to find because of his herniated disc. He got his nickname Caramel from a friend when he received a negative response from a publisher. Musician In 2004, he applied to Megasztár. In 2005, Caramel narrowly won over fellow contestant Tamás Palcsó to become the first contest's winner. He started to compile his first album in his apartment.
