Mogi das Cruzes is a train station on CPTM Line 11-Coral, located in the district of Mogi das Cruzes. History Mogi das Cruzes station was built and opened by North Railway on 6 November 1875. Due to the growing of the city of Mogi das Cruzes, EFCB built a new building, opened on 16 September 1929, as the place was a terminus for commuter trains of the "Central". In the 1950s, it was expanded again, being reopened on 15 March 1958. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Braz Cubas is a train station on CPTM Line 11-Coral, located in the city of Mogi das Cruzes. Built next to Avenida Anchieta, the station in close to the commercial center of the district of Brás Cubas, the most populous in Mogi. History Braz Cubas station was opened by EFCB as a telegraph post on 20 August 1914. Since 1994, it is operated by CPTM. The station was a scene of a national commotion crime: on 8 December 2003, two youngsters were thrown through the windows of a train that was leaving Braz Cubas station by 3 skinheads. The Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil was one of the principal railways of Brazil, uniting the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Origins On 9 February 1855, The imperial government of Brazil signed a contract with Edward Price for the construction of the first section of a railway which had the aim of linking the court (then in the city of Rio de Janeiro) with the provinces of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.
