Modern Love is the second album by the New Zealand electropop band Kids of 88, released worldwide on 5 October 2012. Reception Scott Kara of The New Zealand Herald wrote, "Kids of 88 return with a more mature new album" and "they are no less ambitious this time round with the release of second album". Singles *"Tucan", the first single, was released digitally on 11 May 2012. *"LaLa", the second single, was released 24 August 2012. "LaLa" was commissioned onto radio on 17 August 2012, one week before the official release. The song peaked at number 30 on the RIANZ New Zealand Singles Chart. The second single was originally meant to be "Bad Talk" after receiving funding for the music video by NZ On Air. *"The Drug" first received music video funding from NZ On Air for a music video, suggesting that it would be the third single from the album. Kids Of 88
Kids of 88 were a New Zealand new wave duo based in Auckland, New Zealand, consisting of Jordan Arts and Sam McCarthy. They are best known for their 2009 single, " My House". They have since signed through Dryden Street to Sony Music and released the album '' Sugarpills'' in August 2010. In 2014, the duo stated that 'the ids of 88project has concluded.' Pikachunes is the sad pop musical project of Miles McDougall (i.e. Miles G. Loveless), a songwriter, musician and producer based in Melbourne. Trained in jazz, for McDougall "a typical track features one or two synths, a '70s analog bass line, and a series of reverberated vocal harmonies, all driven by an atypical disco beat." Early life, education Miles McDougall was born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand. He grew up listening intently to musicians such as the Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, B52′s and Matt Bianco, and as an adult listens to most releases from DFA Records and Kitsuné. Alisa Xayalith
Alisa Xayalith (born 24 August 1986) is a New Zealand musician, and is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist and keyboard player for New Zealand indie electronic band The Naked and Famous. Early life Xayalith was born in New Zealand, and is the daughter of Laotian refugees. She has one older sister, one older brother, and two other brothers. Shortly after Alisa's seventh birthday, her mother passed away from breast cancer. Having grown up in South Auckland, New Zealand, her father was a vocalist in a local Laotian ensemble. Sam McCarthy
Sam McCarthy is a New Zealand songwriter and pop vocalist. He is best known for his work in Kids of 88 and Goodnight Nurse. Early life McCarthy was brought up in Auckland in the suburb of Weymouth. He was educated at Weymouth Primary School and St Peter's College. He and Jordan Arts met at St Peter's and quickly realised that they were on the same wavelength. They were in the same English class. McCarthy has said: "As an icebreaking exercise we were told to bring in our favourite song. The iTunes Store is a digital media store operated by Apple Inc. It opened on April 28, 2003, as a result of Steve Jobs' push to open a digital marketplace for music. NZ On Air (NZOA; mi, Irirangi te Motu), formally the Broadcasting Commission, is an autonomous Crown entity and commission of the New Zealand Government responsible for funding support for broadcasting and creative works.
