''Modern Day Drifter'' is the second studio album by American country music artist Dierks Bentley. It was released on May 10, 2005 via Capitol Records Nashville. The album produced three singles on the U.S. ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' Hot Country Songs chart with the number 3 hit "Lot of Leavin' Left to Do" and the number ones "Come a Little Closer (Dierks Bentley song), Come a Little Closer" and "Settle for a Slowdown". The album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and has sold over 1.5 million copies in the United States. Dierks Bentley
Frederick Dierks Bentley (; born November 20, 1975) is an American country music singer and songwriter. In 2003, he signed to Capitol Nashville and released his eponymous debut album. Both it and its follow-up, 2005's ''Modern Day Drifter'', are certified Platinum in the United States, and his third album, 2006's ''Long Trip Alone'', is certified Gold. It was followed in mid-2008 by a greatest hits package. His fourth album, '' Feel That Fire'', was released in February 2009, and a bluegrass album, ''Up on the Ridge'', was released on June 8, 2010. His sixth album, ''Home'', followed in February 2012, as did a seventh one, '' Riser'', in 2014. Jamie Hartford
Jamie Hartford is an American singer, musician, and songwriter. Career Jamie, the son of John Hartford, was raised in a musical environment, meeting and learning from artists such as Johnny Cash, the Everly Brothers, Cowboy Jack Clement, and John Prine. In his early career, Hartford occasionally filled in for Albert Lee at Everly Brothers performances. He also performed with the re-formed Amazing Rhythm Aces. During the mid-90s, Hartford was signed by Asylum Records and recorded an album with producer Pete Anderson. This album was never released. A fiddle is a bowed string musical instrument, most often a violin. It is a colloquial term for the violin, used by players in all genres, including classical music. Aubrey Haynie
Aubrey Haynie (born March 27, 1974) is an American bluegrass musician who plays the fiddle and mandolin. In his career, he has recorded three studio albums for the Sugar Hill Records label, all three of which contained mostly songs that he wrote himself. He also holds several credits as a session fiddler and mandolinist. Biography Early influences When Haynie was nine, he began taking fiddle lessons from his grandmother's cousin, a man named Ted Locke. He studied the fiddle, for two years, after which he took up the mandolin. He became exceedingly good at both, and within two years he joined a bluegrass band named the Bluegrass Parlor Band. While he was traveling, he got a chance to meet Chubby Wise, a self-styled "original" bluegrass fiddler, on many occasions. Danelectro
Danelectro is a brand of musical instruments and accessories, founded in Red Bank, New Jersey in 1947. The company is known primarily for its string instruments that employed unique designs and manufacturing processes. The Danelectro company was sold to the "Music Corporation of America" (MCA) in 1966, moving to a much larger plant in Neptune City, New Jersey, employing more than 500 people. Nevertheless, three years later Danelectro closed its plant. In the late 1990s, the Evets Corporation started selling instruments and accessories under the Danelectro name. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. Del McCoury
Delano Floyd McCoury (born February 1, 1939) is an American bluegrass musician. As leader of the Del McCoury Band, he plays guitar and sings lead vocals along with his two sons, Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury, who play mandolin and banjo respectively. In June 2010, he received a National Heritage Fellowship lifetime achievement award from the National Endowment for the Arts and in 2011 he was elected into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. Career McCoury has had a long career in bluegrass. Although originally hired as banjo player, he sang lead vocals and played rhythm guitar for Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys in 1963, with whom he first appeared on the ''Grand Ole Opry''.
