Mixes (Transvision Vamp Album)
''Mixes'' is a 1992 remix album by the British band Transvision Vamp that was released on the MCA Records label in Japan on CD only. The album contains extended and remixed versions that originally appeared on a variety of formats together with exclusive mixes and rare US promotional releases. The twenty-page booklet contains an essay in Japanese and the lyrics in both Japanese and English. Remix Album
A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson (''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'', 1971). As of 2007, the best-selling remix album of all time is Michael Jackson's ''Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix'' (1997). History and concept ''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'' (1971) by Harry Nilsson is credited as the first remix album. It was released after the successes of "Everybody's Talkin'" and ''The Point!'', when he decided that his older material had started to sound dated. Baby I Don't Care
"Baby I Don't Care" is a song by English pop rock band Transvision Vamp and the first single taken from their second album, ''Velveteen''. It was released in 1989 and remains their highest-charting single, peaking at number three in both the United Kingdom and Australia. It was ranked at number 25 on the Australian end-of-year chart for 1989. The song was later featured as the title track on the band's 2002 compilation album, ''Baby I Don't Care''. The sleeve design features the band against a panelled backdrop printed with a large photo of Elvis Presley. Critical reception Jerry Smith, reviewer of British music newspaper ''Music Week'', named this track as "another excellent slice of cartoon pop". Transvision Vamp were an English pop rock band. Formed in 1986 by Nick Christian Sayer and Wendy James, the band enjoyed chart success in the late 1980s, particularly in 1989. James, the lead singer and focal-point of the group, attracted media attention with her sexually charged and rebellious image. A remix (or reorchestration) is a piece of media which has been altered or contorted from its original state by adding, removing, or changing pieces of the item.
