Missouri Tigers Women's Volleyball
The Missouri Tigers women's volleyball team represents the University of Missouri in the SEC. Current coaching staff * Dawn Sullivan - Head Coach History Wayne Kreklow was hired by Mizzou in 2000 while he coached for Columbia College, and he assumed the role of head coach in 2005. Also hired in 2000, his wife, Susan serves as director of volleyball. In the 2013 season, Missouri clinched the Southeastern Conference championship—the university's first in any sport since entering the SEC in 2012—with a perfect regular season, finishing with a 35–1 record after losing in round two of the NCAA Tournament. Dawn Sullivan
Dawn Sullivan (; born c. 1978/79) is an American volleyball coach, and former player. She was named the eighth head coach of Missouri women's volleyball team in December 2022. Personal life Sullivan graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, Minnesota in 1996, where she was a two-sport athlete in volleyball and basketball and received the 1996 Kaiser Award recognizing the female athlete of the year. Career Playing career Sullivan played as an outside hitter at Kansas State. She was an AVCA All-American and All- Big 12 as a senior as she helped the team make the school's fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. She earned Kansas College Female-Athlete-of-the-Year honors in 2000. In her career, she notched 1,611 kills and 1,258 digs, which rank as the third and fourth-most, respectively, in program history. Hearnes Center
Hearnes Center is a 13,611-seat multi-purpose arena in Columbia, Missouri. The arena opened in 1972. It is currently home to the Missouri Tigers' wrestling and volleyball teams as well as the school's gymnastics and indoor track & field teams. It was home to the University of Missouri Tigers basketball team before Mizzou Arena opened in 2004. Groundbreaking for the Hearnes Center occurred in 1969, and the arena was officially dedicated on August 4, 1972. The arena got its name from former Missouri governor and 1952 Mizzou graduate Warren Hearnes. The cost of the building project was $10.75 million. Prior to the opening of the Hearnes Center, the Missouri basketball team played its home games at Brewer Fieldhouse, which was built in 1929 and has since been remodeled into a modern recreation center. Wayne Kreklow
Wayne R. Kreklow (born January 4, 1957) is an American volleyball coach and former professional basketball player. Kreklow won an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 1981. He was the women's volleyball coach at the University of Missouri from 2005 through the 2018 season. Kreklow retired in July 2019. Early life Kreklow was born in Neenah, Wisconsin. Wayne is the son of Wayne Sr. (d. 2018) and Joanne. He is one of six Kreklow children. His father coached and taught for 42 years. Kreklow played on the 1975 state championship basketball team at Neenah High School. Kreklow scored 23 points in Neenah's state quarterfinal loss in 1974. Kreklow led the 1975 Wisconsin State High School Basketball Tournament in scoring with 69 points, including 19 in Neenah's 64–55 victory over Milwaukee Marshall in the WIAA Class A final. Molly Kreklow (born February 17, 1992) is an American indoor volleyball player who plays for Eczacıbaşı VitrA. Kreklow is a current member of the United States women's national volleyball team. United States Women's National Volleyball Team
The United States women's national volleyball team participates in international volleyball competitions and friendly games, and is governed by USA Volleyball. The current head coach is three-time Olympic gold medalist and retired dominant beach volleyball professional Karch Kiraly. Before 2014, the United States women's national volleyball team had achieved second place six times in major competitions (1967 World Women's Volleyball Championship, 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, 2002 World Women's Volleyball Championship, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, 2011 World Cup, 2012 London Olympic Games) but had never reached the top. NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship
The NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship is the official competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of North America, Central America and the Caribbean, organized by the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA). Since its introduction in 1969 the tournaments have been awarded every two years.
