Missing Daughters (1939 Film)
''Missing Daughters'' is a 1939 American crime film directed by Charles C. Coleman. It stars Richard Arlen, Rochelle Hudson, and Marian Marsh. Plot Kay Roberts comes to see radio crime commentator Wally King after the death of Josie, her sister and wife. Josie left home to become a nightclub hostess, only to fall victim to a series of murders covering up a slavery racket. Wally goes undercover to investigate with the police department's consent after disparaging their work on his radio program. Kay also takes a job as a cigarette girl, hoping to help Wally with his work. The nightclub's owner figures out what Wally is up to and is about to kill him when Capt. McGraw of the police intervenes, just in time. He is best known for appearances in films like '' Kitty Foyle'' (1940) and ''The Devil and Daniel Webster'' (1941), and his stint as a leading man at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1940s where he appeared in films like '' The Human Comedy'' (1943). She is mainly remembered as the beautiful blonde actress who appeared in many of The Three Stooges shorts produced by Columbia Pictures. Dorothy Short (June 29, 1915 – June 4, 1963) was an American film actress, mainly in low-budget Westerns and serials in the 1930s and 1940s. A native of Philadelphia, Short was the daughter of Mrs. E. M. Short. She began working in films for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1933 on a trial basis. In November 1933, a court in California approved a seven-year contract, with options, between the 18-year-old actress and the studio. Short married actor Dave O'Brien in 1936, the same year they appeared together in the low-budget exploitation cheapie ''Reefer Madness'', which in modern times has become a well-known cult film. She also appeared in another anti marijuana film ''Assassin of Youth'' in 1937. Lucile Ruth Browne (March 18, 1907 – May 10, 1976) was an American film actress. She starred opposite John Wayne in the 1935 films '' Texas Terror'' and '' Rainbow Valley''. Seymour "Cy" Schindell (March 4, 1907 – August 24, 1948) was an American actor. He appeared in 37 Three Stooges short subjects, mostly as a heavy, though he was never credited in any Stooge shorts. Career Brooklyn-born Schindell was born Seymour Schindel in 1907. He was a former middleweight boxer with 19 fights from 1926 to 1928. Schindell also memorably played Chizzilini, a parody of Benito Mussolini, in the short ''I'll Never Heil Again''.
