The Miss Universe Nepal (MUN) is a beauty pageant competition. The contest selects the country representative for Miss Universe. The current Miss Universe Nepal is Jane Dipika Garrett from Kathmandu. History The Miss Universe Nepal officially began in 2017 and the first title was Nominated to Nagma Shrestha. The contest was conducted by Hidden Treasure Nepal until 2019 when Brave, Bold & Beautiful (previously known as Ma: Nepali) became the official franchisee for Miss Universe on 11 June 2020. Beauty Pageant
A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Anshika Sharma ( ne, अंशिका शर्मा) (born July 11, 1996) is a Nepalese-Australian beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Nepal 2020. She represented Nepal at Miss Universe 2020. She worked as a sales analyst and was the runner-up at Miss Nepal Oceania 2020. Life and career Early life Anshika Sharma was born in Jhapa and raised in Kathmandu by her parents, Balkrishna and Mala Sharma. She is a sales analyst and dancer. She also has an interest in photography. After graduating high school in Kathmandu, she moved to Sydney, Australia, for her higher education. Sharma financed her education and completed her bachelor's degree in Informational Technology from Central Queensland University, after which she worked as a sales/business analyst for DHL. Honda Miss Universe Nepal 2020, the 1st ever annual Miss Universe Nepal beauty pageant, was held on 30 December 2020 at the newly built Kathmandu Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu. Uddhab Adhikari was designated by the Umanga Creation Pvt. ltd. after it received the official licence from the Miss Universe organisation and the first ever representative of Nepal in Miss Universe 2017 crowned Anshika Sharma as Miss Universe Nepal to represent Nepal in Miss Universe 2020. The winner of Miss Universe Nepal 2020 received NPR Rs. 1,000,000 as prize for winning the title as well as full support from the Miss Universe Nepal Organisation for her chosen advocacy.
